Chapter 5
“I… Steve drank too much, so I brought him back. You stay at home, and once I hand him over to you, I’ll feel
relieved.”
“No, you take care, I have to go!” “But…”
“What were you holding in your hand?”
Steve suddenly spoke.
“The suitcase, my belongings, I moved some of them first, and I will come back in two days to take the rest!”
“Josie, don’t be like this, Steve already knew he was wrong!”
Vivian wanted to move forward, but her wrist was grabbed by Steve.
“Let her go!”
Vivian pulled Steve anxiously, her face full of worry.
“Steve, stop messing around. You need to apologize to Josie!”
“I said, let her go!”
“Steve!”
I watched them pulling and tugging with indifference, it was boring.
I stopped at the door, walking to the door.
“You said I’m different from Vivian, Steve. I’m quite curious, what exactly did you mean by that?”
“She wouldn’t be as unreasonable as you!” Steve shouted, “Vivian is gentle, considerate, and understanding. And what about you, Josie? Are you tired? You’re always suspicious, overthinking, and causing trouble. It’s you who wants to argue and make a scene, and it’s you who comes running to make peace. And then you act like nothing happened. This time, you better follow through with your words and not make me lose respect
for you!”
I turned my head and looked at Steve.
Suddenly, he burst into laughter.
I pointed at him and then pointed at Vivian.
“You liked her, didn’t you?”
Steve’s face changed.
“What nonsense are you talking about?”
I suddenly became calm tonight, after being in emotional turmoil.
I approached Steve step by step.

“Do you like her?”
“Josie, shut up!”
I suddenly realized. All those details that I had ignored in the past were connected one by one.
Our close friends in the circle are all long-time friends with whom we used to have a great time.
Only Vivian is different.
She went on blind dates with Steve.
I had a big argument with Steve because of this matter in the past.
The reason was just an argument, not a breakup.
It was because he was Henry’s relative who helped.
On that day, the time for the blind date had already been set, and the woman had been waiting. However, Henry suddenly received a notice for an emergency meeting.
“Standing someone up on the first meeting, my mom would kill me. Besides, no matter what, I can’t let the girl
wait in vain. So, can you run an errand for me?”
Steve has never been one to meddle in other people’s business, but he went that day.
Itreated the girl to a meal.
Arabella didn’t care. “It has already passed.”
I didn’t know about this at first. It was Henry’s first-time bringing Vivian to have a meal with us. When we were ordering, Steve suddenly said, “Change the mango mousse over there to chocolate.”
“What happened?”
“She was allergic to mangoes!”
Steve almost blurted it out.
After speaking, both of us fell silent.
