Almost a Wife Never His Love novel Chapter 85

Chapter 4

On the third day after breaking up with Steve, it was Tessa Crane’s birthday, and she invited me to go out for

dinner to celebrate.

“Did Steve go? We broke up, so if he goes, I won’t go!”

“What happened again?”

“No fuss, this time it’s true!”

“Go ahead, go ahead! He was busy today, you must come over, otherwise I will get angry!”

Tessa was certain and said that Steve would not go.

When I arrived, I found out that not only was Steve there, but Vivian was also there. Vivian was sitting in the

innermost part of the private room.

Steve was getting up to hand her the yogurt.

Vivian looked up and gave him a gentle smile.

Steve saw me, but he only glanced at me briefly before looking away.

I wanted to turn around and leave, but Tessa held onto me.

“Don’t make a fuss, today is my birthday, can’t you give me some face?”

The private room was filled with our long-time friends, and it was something I didn’t want to see if I ruined the

atmosphere.

And so, I stayed.

Sitting in the seat near the door, I became a karaoke enthusiast!

I accepted the wine that my friends handed to me without hesitation.

They hesitated to speak, and I noticed it, but they didn’t say a single unnecessary word.

In the latter half, things got particularly inexplicable and they started a drinking game.

The two couples present drank amidst the noise and laughter.

The rest was just Steve and me.

Someone pushed him, someone pulled me, saying that we must all have a drink. Tessa advised me, “Alright,

let’s both take a step back, and this matter will be over. Look, we have already set the stage for you. You raise

your glass first, and he will come over.”

I was stunned for a moment and suddenly realized that what I called a breakup was probably just a

momentary angry remark in their eyes.

They often said, “We really can’t believe you two. Every time you make a big fuss, we worry ourselves sick. But the next day, you both act like nothing happened.”

Just like the story of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”, the more times people heard it, the less they believed it.

I couldn’t help but look towards the other end where Steve was.

He sat there with his eyes downcast, expressionless.

Someone pulled him, but he dodged.

With a light “tsk” sound, full of annoyance.

He turned his head, and on that side was Vivian.

Vivian raised her chin slightly, judging from her lip movement, she said “go”.

There was a two-second silence, and then Steve

up the glass on the table and abruptly stood up.

He walked towards me, looked at me, his gaze suppressed.

It was like a glass of broken wine. I laughed.

Suddenly, I felt very bored.

So I dodged Steve’s outstretched hand and tilted my head back, finishing the drink in my cup.

“You guys play, I’m leaving first!”

Steve’s face instantly darkened.

He looked at me fiercely.

I turned around and pushed the door open.

The moment the door closed; I heard the piercing sound of a glass wine glass shattering on the ground.

From my understanding of Steve, he wouldn’t be going back anytime soon.

I decided to go to the new house.
