Chapter 2
Arabella arrived at the company early in the morning, printed out the divorce agreement, and casually began drafting the
resignation process.
After six years of struggle, she finally became the regional manager of Pinnacle Group, but now she has to give up.
Because Zackary was the president of the group, the company belonged to his family.
From junior high school to college, she had a crush on Zackary for nine years. She followed him into Pinnacle Group and
only found out about his identity at the newcomer party. She also learned that he was originally planning to start a
business with Gina Rowland, but Gina suddenly got married to an heir of a foreign conglomerate.
Zackary was caught off guard, overwhelmed, and ended up in a slump at Pinnacle Group.
At that time, Zackary was heavily intoxicated, and Arabella, for the first time, developed a greedy infatuation and
subsequently engaged in a relationship with him.
But soon, she paid the price for her greed.
She was pregnant.
So, Zackary’s wife became a disgraceful woman, living with her daughter as if she were a bastard child.
Nine years of love, in the struggles of a six-year marriage, finally ended up in ruins.
The cost was too heavy.
Almost destroyed her life.
Arabella chuckled self-deprecatingly and looked up to the final step of the resignation process – confirmation.
Her eyes were misty, but she decisively clicked “Yes”.
The paper notification needed to be submitted to the HR Department.
As Arabella stepped into the room, she immediately spotted two tall figures.
Zackary was carefully explaining something, his gaze towards Gina gentle and affectionate.
What a perfect couple they were, with the man being talented and the woman being beautiful.
Zackary didn’t even blink his eyes. “Where is your mother?”
“I was wondering why Mr. Jefferson has been in such a good mood lately; it turns out it’s because the Red Phoenix
constellation has moved.”
Arabella heard it in her ears, and her heart climbed up with dense and painful sourness.
She lowered her gaze and placed the resignation notice on the HR desk when suddenly a shadow fell upon her hand.
She looked up in astonishment and collided with Zackary’s dark eyes.

Even after all these years of grinding and being covered in scars, those deep eyes still make her dizzy.
“Za…”
As I started, I saw Gina walking over, her hand reaching out to Zackary’s arm.
“Is this the elementary school sister who has been following you for nine years?”
As she opened her lips, Zackary looked over, his eyebrows raised and a tenderness that didn’t belong to him appeared, as he lightly replied, “Is that so? I can’t quite remember.”
He distanced himself silently, eager to disassociate from Arabella and show loyalty to Gina.
Arabella’s throat tightened, and her eyes welled up with warmth.
Married for six years, Zackary was even stingy with a shallow smile.
But so easily, casually, recklessly, released to another person.
He was not an iceberg after all.
Only towards Arabella did he erect a solid and thick ice wall.
Zackary’s punishment for her greed never ceased.
Arabella endured six years of loneliness, only to become a vague memory in Zackary’s mouth.
Talking about self-esteem seemed too melodramatic.
Arabella tugged at the corners of her mouth, struggling to force a polite smile, “Just a coincidence.”
I had intended to at least say goodbye to Zackary in person, but now it seems completely unnecessary.
“Ms. Reid, there came a bruised and swollen child outside, claiming to be your daughter.”
There was someone outside the door shouting anxiously.
