Leon’s expression remained unchanged, but Malik, having known him for years, could clearly detect even the slightest flicker across his brow.

Malik finally figured it out. Leon, who always seemed so aloof and domineering, turned out to be surprisingly vulnerable when it came to matters of relationships.

Malik quickly added, “Look, even if he’s not as charismatic as you, that imperial status gives him a massive upgrade.”

Malik smirked inwardly. He’d finally figured out how to get to Leory.

Fighting was pointless. He’d lose for sure. If he tried to insult Leon, Leon wouldn’t even bat an eye. And reasoning with him? Leon would just treat his words like background noise.

But he did have a weakness!

Jessica was his Achilles‘ heel. Just the slightest mention of her would make him explode!

Malik said pointedly, “Of course, I do think Ms. Yates has some feelings for you. But can you really say it’s not just gratitude? Let’s be real. At least half of what she feels for you must be out of gratitude, right?”

Malik added, “If you become the peerless champion at this point, her admiration for you would go through the roof.”

Leon still didn’t say a word, but his face darkened a bit.

Malik couldn’t resist adding fuel to the fire. “She turned down your confession that night. Face it, she’s just not that into you yet. If you don’t step up your game now, don’t be surprised if she dumps you for good!”

Leon’s gaze swept over like a blade. “Malik, is Novigrad where you choose to die?”
