Chapter 377
“I’m guessing you weren’t too far away. When Shawn and the soldiers were about to go in, Your Highness could have stopped them if you really wanted to. But you deliberately let them charge in, and then conveniently followed under the pretense of rescue, only to get trapped yourself, am right?
Jessica said.

mask of disbelief.
For his mistake, he’d been consumed by genuine remorse–three days and nights? No, four full days now, so intense it drove him to the brink of atoning with his life.
“Why so shocked?” Magnus gave him a disdainful look and snorted. “Even if Prince Leon did it on purpose, you were still reckless. Don’t think you can shirk responsibility!”
Shawn immediately lowered his head and busied himself with the meat, staying silent.
Jessica glanced at Leon. “I won’t presume to guess what Your Highness is thinking. Since Ray isn’t with the team, he should be back tonight, shouldn’t
he?”
Leon reached for her hand again, but this time Jessica deftly evaded his touch, her gaze turning cold.
After the soldiers had their fill, they were all resting.
Jessica gently cleaned Leanna’s wound, reapplied the medication, and carefully bandaged it.
Leanna looked up and noticed Leon standing not far away, his gaze
fixed on Jessica.
She said with a gentle smile, “Although what Leon dear did was indeed a bit risky, it truly killed two birds with one stone. As a general who’s been through countless life–and–death situations, in my opinion, his judgment call wasn’t wrong at all.”
Leanna patted Jessica on the shoulder and softened her voice. “They simply don’t realize that back home, there are women like

Who could ever forget the tragedy of those days?
She could not follow her husband as he fought bloody battles on the front lines. Day after day, she waited anxiously, only to receive the devastating news
that he had fallen in combat.
If given another chance, she would never allow herself to be left behind again. The torment of that endless, nerve–wracking wait was simply unbearable.
She would rather brave fire and sword by his side. Even if it cost them their lives, at least they would die together.
That would be far better than living like this, separated by the veil of death.
Leanna said softly, “Jessica, don’t bottle things up. If you’re upset, just tell him straight out. Remind him to be careful in the future and not to rush into things recklessly. Let him know there’s someone who cares deeply about him.”
“Who cares deeply about him?” Jessica averted her gaze, unwilling to confess.
Leanna didn’t press further. With an understanding smile, she rose and left.
Jessica was hurried to leave, too.
But before she could leave, Leon strode over and grabbed her hand, refusing to let her go. “Jessica, are you mad at me?”
Jessica tried to shake off Leon’s hand, but he only tightened his grip. She said, “You’re overthinking, Your Highness. Why would I be angry?”
