Chapter 344
Jessica later administered acupuncture to Elsie and prescribed herbal medicine. After taking it, Elsie soon fell into a deep sleep.
Jessica said calmly, “The meridians in her eyes were damaged by the fumes, but not completely destroyed.”
Malik’s heart clenched as he immediately stepped forward. “So there’s still hope for her eyes to recover?”
Suddenly, a tall, slender figure materialized before Jessica, blocking her way.
Malik quickly composed himself and stepped back. Only then did the figure vanish from in front of Jessica, returning to his seat and leisurely sipping his
coffee.
Jessica continued, “Since the meridians aren’t completely destroyed, there’s still a charice of recovery. But… the odds aren’t great, and it will take considerable time.”
“At least… there’s still hope…” Malik murmured. His heart was heavy, but finally, a glimmer of hope appeared.
He brought his own medical officers, but neither the medical officers from Askar nor the imperial physicians of Novigrad’s palace could do anything for Elsie’s eyes.
Malik had already given up all hope, but now, for the first time in a long while, he felt his extinguished heart come alive again.
“Jessica, how can we treat her injury?” Malik asked urgently.
Jessica glanced at Garbisch before saying, “I’ll need Leanna to prepare some medicine, but it’s going to take quite some time. In the meantime, Your Highness and Princess Elsie should return to Askar.”
“The fire at Radiant Palace…” Malik’s expression darkened.
Garbisch quickly interjected, “We’ve already found some of the…”
Jessica cut Garbisch off. “The hideout’s been located. The thunder grenades and their makers are in High Court custody. As for the mastermind, the sect leader’s still at large.”
It was obvious to everyone that Garbisch had more to say.
Malik’s emotions were in turmoil. It was clear Jessica was keeping something from him, but right now, he was here as Askar’s representative.
Jessica’s stance clearly favored Novigrad.
Malik seethed with frustration, but with Leon present, he knew that if Jessica didn’t want to talk, Leon would never allow him to press for answers.
Malik pressed his lips together, his expression darkening.
Garbisch also looked at Jessica, his words caught in his throat.
Jessica simply looked at Malik and said, “Your Highness, you’ve already delayed your return to Askar. If you keep getting caught up in this, who knows what might be happening in the capital by then? I’m afraid the second Prince and the eldest Prince of Askar will have already made their moves.”
Malik was startled, his sharp gaze locking onto her with sudden intensity.
Leon, who had been quietly sipping his coffee, set down his cup, his gaze darkening as he looked at Jessica.
But it wasn’t surprise he felt. It was delight.
Jessica was even smarter than he had imagined.
