Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1584

The more Katie stared at her phone, the darker her expression grew.

She finally set her phone aside, holding the blanket close as she sobbed. "Why? Why does everyone abandon me? Chandler, you heartless jerk!"

"Enough with the tears!" Abraham snapped. "Is that all you can do? Can't you survive without a man?"

He added, "You've brought nothing but disgrace to our family. Once your legs heal, you're going back to the countryside. Don't even think about returning to the city without my permission!"

With that, he turned and strode away, eager to escape the turmoil.

Outside the hospital, Helen jumped into the car and told Seymour, "Drive to the old town!"

Her face was expressionless, but the tension radiating from her was unmistakable.

As Seymour started the engine, a thought flickered in his mind. He turned to Helen and said, "Ms. Spencer, we should verify the authenticity of the news first. What if it's a trap set by the Whitlock family? We could be walking straight into a disaster!"

"I can't worry about that right now!" Helen shouted, her composure slipping. "My grandparents raised me; I can't gamble with their lives!"

Just as she finished speaking, her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen and saw an anonymous number.

They exchanged a glance, both thinking of one person—Vincent.

Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Helen answered the call. "Hello? Who is this?"

"It's me."

As soon as Chandler's voice came through, every bit of tension in Helen shattered. Her shoulders slumped as she let out a long, shaky breath.

"Mr. Whitlock, it's been two days, and there's still no news. What if Helen hasn't returned at all?" Maddox asked from behind him.

Vincent narrowed his eyes, pressing a hand against the glass and tapping it absently. "Is it possible she really drowned at sea?"

"I think that's a real possibility," Maddox replied. "The area we passed through has a history of shark attacks on boats. Her body could easily be lost to a shark by now."

Vincent fell silent, contemplating the loss of such a valuable pawn.

"What about the two elders from the Spencer family?" Maddox asked respectfully.

"Let them go," Vincent said, waving a hand dismissively. "Those two old fools are of no use to us. Think of it as a small gesture of goodwill. Now, shift your focus to preparing for our return home."

He still had to deal with the aftermath of the chaos Helen had left behind.
