Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1583

Katie lay in the hospital bed, her legs and one arm wrapped in casts.

Despite her injuries, she was restless, wailing dramatically, "Leave me alone! The chance to study abroad that was meant for me has been stolen! I might as well be dead!"

Heartbroken, Diana tried to comfort her. "Alright, my dear, let's not focus on that right now. We need to prioritize your recovery. You just had medicine applied, so please try to stay still. You have such a beautiful face—it would be a shame if it got inflamed and left a scar!"

"I don't care! I want to go abroad! I want to study under Mr. Yorgson!" Katie shouted, glaring furiously at Helen. "This is all her fault—she caused this! If she hadn't dodged, I wouldn't have fallen down the stairs! It's bad enough that she stole Mr. Yorgson from me; now she wants to ruin my looks! How is that fair?"

Helen rolled her eyes. "So, are you suggesting I should have just stood there and let you push me? You'd be fine with that if I ended up like this, huh?"

"Did I even say that? If you had just stopped me, neither of us would have fallen! You just wanted to make me look ridiculous in front of Mr. Yorgson!" Katie insisted, refusing to back down.

"Enough!" Abraham shouted, fed up with the chaos. "Do you really want to embarrass yourselves even more?"

Katie immediately fell silent.

Helen turned away, disinterested in continuing the argument.

Feeling agitated, Abraham glanced at Helen and clicked his tongue, ultimately choosing to remain silent.

He turned back to Katie, launching into another round of reprimands. "And you—if you can't even walk properly, who can you blame? After all these years of piano lessons, you still can't compete with Kaylee. If I were you, I'd keep a low profile instead of causing trouble. Why make things worse for yourself?"

"Why are you saying this to me, Dad?" Katie exclaimed, a mix of anger and hurt welling up inside her. Abraham's attitude toward her had grown increasingly cold lately.

"What have I said that's wrong?" Abraham pressed on, becoming more animated. "How much have I invested in you over the years? What have you done to repay me?

"You can't play the piano, your grades aren't improving, and you seem to create more problems than you solve. Am I not allowed to express my frustrations?"

With that, he swiftly passed his phone to Helen, who was sitting beside him.

As she took it, she noticed the screen displaying not Chandler's news, but a report from a social media account about a local incident.

"Fire incident in the old town—two elders from the Spencer family from the Northwest are still missing…"

Helen felt as if her world had fallen apart, her heart momentarily stopping. After a brief moment of shock, she turned and bolted for the door.

Just as Abraham was about to say something, both Helen and Seymour had already disappeared down the hallway.

"Such a lack of manners," Abraham muttered under his breath.

With Diana's assistance, Katie finally managed to read the full article about Chandler's wedding.
