Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1575

Taylor's car was quickly surrounded, but with his expert driving skills, he skillfully maneuvered away from their pursuers.

As he entered the city, he deftly navigated through traffic lights, successfully shaking off the vehicles behind them. Once the rearview mirror was clear, he eased off the gas and turned into an empty alley, coming to a halt.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Abigail managed a wry smile. "Surviving this close call must mean good fortune is on the horizon!"

"Thank goodness my camera's still intact! This footage is totally worth it!" Gideon exclaimed, frantically checking his gear.

Taylor gripped the steering wheel tightly, his face etched with tension, casting a heavy atmosphere over the car.

"You still haven't told me what you captured!" Abigail leaned back, curiosity lighting up her eyes.

"Cocaine," Gideon replied, his voice a mix of nerves and excitement.

"Are you serious?" Abigail gasped, her surprise evident. She never expected that their pursuit of an illegal beef shipment would lead them to something much more substantial.

"Definitely," Gideon said with a nod. "If we turn these photos over to the police, they're bound to uncover something major!"

He placed a hand on Taylor's shoulder, adding, "We owe you one, Mr. Xander. Without you, these photos might have stayed in the dark."

"Take your hand away," Taylor snapped, his tone casting a shadow over the car.

Gideon's smile faltered, momentarily taken aback. Realizing Taylor meant business, he quickly pulled his hand back.

"Are you okay?" Abigail asked, her expression growing serious as she sensed the shift in tension.

"Why are you shouting? Who am I to you, anyway? Even if I had been shot, what would it matter to you?" Abigail retorted, instinctively raising her voice in response.

The two faced off like stubborn bulls, neither willing to back down.

Taylor hadn't intended to scold her. For a moment, guilt washed over him, causing his voice to falter. "I-If it weren't for my respect for Helly, do you really think I'd want to get involved with you?"

"Then don't," Abigail retorted. "I don't need your misplaced concern. I'm an adult and can take responsibility for my own choices. You don't have to worry about me anymore."

Abigail had bottled up these words for far too long, and today, she finally let them out. She had always felt like a mere replacement for Helen in Taylor's eyes, but at that moment, she was reclaiming her true self.

Taylor was momentarily at a loss for words, realizing he had misspoken. He quickly corrected himself, saying, "That's not what I meant. Yes, Helly matters to me, but you're my good friend too. No matter what happens to either of you, I won't just stand by and do nothing."
