Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1576

"Good friend?" Abigail's lips twisted into a bitter smile at the term.

She quickly masked her emotions, fixing Taylor with a cold stare. "Thanks for thinking so highly of me, but relationships are mutual. At this point, I don't want to be your 'good friend' anymore."

"Abigail, I'm the one who should be angry right now. Why are you more worked up than I am?" Taylor said, his brow furrowed.

He felt like a ship caught in a storm, powerless against the relentless waves of emotion crashing over him.

"What do you mean I'm worked up? I don't feel that way at all," Abigail snapped, disappointment evident on her face.

She continued, "Taylor, can't you see how hypocritical you're being? You keep saying how important it is to look after Helly, yet she's been missing for a month, and you haven't even considered going to find her."

"I did! I—"

"You don't need to justify yourself. Whether you did or didn't is no longer my concern," Abigail interrupted, turning to Gideon. "Let's go."

With that, she opened the car door and stepped out. She slammed it shut with a loud bang, leaving Taylor alone inside.

"Abigail? Hey!" he called after her, but she didn't look back. In an instant, she and Gideon disappeared at the alley's entrance.

Taylor sat in silence, feeling a wave of helplessness wash over him. "Can't we just have a rational conversation?"

After leaving the police station, Gideon brought Abigail to his headquarters—a charming farmhouse nestled in the suburbs.

As they stepped inside, he began to introduce her to the space. "We've gathered passionate journalists from all over the country here. These people are committed to fighting for social justice and face tremendous pressure every day. Each one of them is a hero."

Abigail felt a wave of inspiration, her admiration for Gideon growing. "You're a hero too," she said.

"Don't worry, the source is solid. Chandler won't slip away this time," the man assured, giving Gideon a pat on the hand. "I need to head out now, but I'll keep you updated."

"Alright, take care out there."

The man gave Abigail a brief nod before exiting.

Before she could say anything, Gideon chimed in, "You've probably heard of Destiny Corporation. It's the largest financial firm in Grand Cathay, dominating various industries. We've been tracking them for two years, and we've finally made a breakthrough."

He paused for a moment, placing a hand on Abigail's shoulder. "When the time comes, you and I will be heroes for the people."

Unlike many women, Abigail shared similar interests with men and felt a deep sense of heroism.

"Absolutely," she replied, feeling a rush of inspiration. She was determined to join Gideon's cause and fight for justice.
