Taylor found himself at a loss for words.
Abigail lowered her eyes, trying to hide the tears of disappointment threatening to spill. When she looked up again, she forced a cheerful smile and waved at him. "Bye-bye!"
With that, she turned and walked away with Gideon.
As Taylor watched their silhouettes fade into the distance, he tugged at his tie in frustration. "Fine, I'll wait and see what incredible moments you actually manage to capture!"
…
Soon, Abigail and Gideon arrived at the docks. After hiding in a secluded spot for nearly an hour, their patience began to wear thin.
"I forgot to ask on the way here—what exactly is this illegal deal about?" Abigail spoke up, trying to ease the boredom.
"According to our intel, a ship is about to arrive with a shipment of boneless beef," Gideon explained earnestly. "This beef was banned from entering the country, but unscrupulous traders are secretly smuggling it in for profit."
"What? Are you telling me we went through all this trouble just to stake out some meat? Can't we report it directly to customs?" Abigail questioned, confusion etched on her face.
"Do you honestly believe that customs officials are just twiddling their thumbs? Without evidence, they wouldn't be concerned. Besides, this isn't a trivial matter.
"That beef is coming from Ameridia, where mad cow disease is rampant. If contaminated meat slips through, it could pose serious health risks. This is a significant public health issue!" Gideon replied, his expression grave.
"I see…" Abigail nodded, beginning to grasp the gravity of the situation. Suddenly, her eyes sparkled. "Look! Is that the cargo ship coming?"
Gideon leaned forward, excitement building. "Yes, that's it!"
He quickly set up his camera, focusing on the unloading area. A few minutes later, Gideon abruptly stopped, his expression turning serious as he reviewed the last shot. "This isn't good—"
Just as they were about to slip into the factory, gunfire erupted behind them, bullets striking the ground perilously close. The two of them huddled against the container, paralyzed by fear.
As the footsteps drew closer, Abigail and Gideon felt their hearts racing in their chests.
Just then, a powerful engine roared in the distance, and they turned to see a black BMW barreling toward them. The car made a sharp turn and came to a screeching halt just a few feet away.
As the door swung open, Taylor yelled, "Get in!"
Without a second thought, Abigail and Gideon dashed over and leaped into the car.
Taylor quickly shifted gears, flooring the accelerator as they sped away from the threat.
