Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1563

Half an hour later, Chandler led Bernard into the living room of the Terzian residence, where Helen and Katie were resting on the couches.

Observing the scene, Bernard leaned in toward Chandler and whispered, "So, which one's your precious sister?"

Chandler didn't correct him and replied, "Kaylee."

"Understood," Bernard said, catching on. "You just take it easy."

He then shifted his focus to Katie and Helen. "Excuse me, which of you is the elder and which is the younger?"

"Can't you tell?" Katie snapped, her irritation heightened by her pounding headache. "She's heavily pregnant, and I'm fit as a fiddle. It's pretty obvious who's older!"

Accustomed to the respect that came with his esteemed status in the medical field, Bernard found it intriguing to encounter someone who was oblivious to his reputation.

Though he had initially intended to check on "Kaylee" first, Bernard changed course and approached Katie instead. After briefly assessing her temperature and pulse, he let out a heavy sigh.

Katie frowned and sat up straight. "What's with the dramatic sigh? I'm just running a fever; what's the big deal?"

Bernard stayed silent, glancing at her before turning away with another sigh.

A wave of unease washed over Katie. Struggling to stand, she stood behind him and pressed, "What's wrong with me? Tell me! What illness do I have?"

At her insistence, Bernard turned back. Just as he was about to respond, he stopped short and shook his head solemnly.

Katie pressed her hand against her chest, anxiety bubbling up as she coughed twice. She glared at him and said, "What kind of doctor are you? You don't even provide a proper diagnosis. You're just trying to frighten me! Honestly, I think you're nothing but a fraud!"

Bernard didn't take offense; instead, he chuckled inwardly while maintaining a serious demeanor, letting the tension linger.

After a moment, he acted as if nothing had occurred and walked over to Helen. "Let me check Kaylee first."

Respecting Chandler's wishes, Katie sulked back onto the couch, opting not to press the issue any further.

As he spoke, he raised an eyebrow at Chandler, internally noting, "See? We're on the same page, right?"

By not directly handing over a business card, they left room for further conversation.

"Thank you," Helen replied, open to the suggestion.

For her child's sake, it was certainly wise to seek out prenatal checkups.

"Not at all," Bernard said with a warm smile.

Seeing the exchange, Katie's anger flared, and she leaped to her feet once more. "What the hell? You were supposed to check on me! Instead, you spent all that time talking to her and barely acknowledged me. What about my needs? What should I be careful about? What medication should I be taking?"

Bernard's smile vanished as he looked down at her, his patience wearing thin. "Just drink more hot water!" he snapped.
