Cody's eyes sparkled as a mischievous idea began to form.
He leaped out of his chair and leaned closer to Jenson. "Why not shower her with game merchandise? What hardcore gamer could resist a room full of gaming goodies? And robot models—those are super enticing!"
As he spoke, Cody struck a pose, mimicking a robot gearing up for an attack. "Transformers, roll out!"
"Exactly!" Jenson slapped his thigh, as though he'd just had a brilliant idea.
He grabbed Cody by the shoulders and exclaimed, "You're a genius wingman! That's it! I'll start preparing right now. If it doesn't work, I'll go down swinging!"
With that, he shoved Cody aside and eagerly made his way to the door.
"Hey, are you really leaving? Wait!" Cody called after him.
However, Jenson was entirely focused on his plan and charged out of the office.
"Is he really that clueless? How does he expect to win over Aunt Germaine?" Cody shook his head in exasperation. "It'd be strange if a woman actually liked robot models anyway…"
Still, Cody had no intention of stopping Jenson from making a fool of himself; he figured it would serve as a valuable lesson. This way, Jenson could fully concentrate on helping him track down Hexa afterward.
Jenson strode confidently to Germaine's office, knocked twice, and then pushed the door open. "Hey, you're free this Thursday afternoon, right? Clear your schedule—I'm taking you and Cody to check out a new restaurant!"
Without waiting for Germaine's reply, he closed the door behind him and walked away. As he headed back, Jenson felt a noticeable lightness in his steps, a spring in his stride.
"Kaylee!" Isabelle called out, stopping her at the door and pulling her into a tight hug. When she finally released her, tears streamed down her face. "Thank God you're okay. I wouldn't have been able to find peace otherwise."
As she spoke, Isabelle instinctively lowered her gaze, her eyes landing on Helen's belly. "I heard you're pregnant! That's amazing! Does this mean I get to be a godmother?"
Helen offered a hesitant smile, her eyes studying Isabelle's expression.
Isabelle was frequently referred to as Kaylee's best friend, having appeared in Kaylee's diary even more often than Jason.
Additionally, she had taken on the crucial role of coordinating with publishers about all of Kaylee's handwritten manuscripts.
In her last diary entry, Kaylee had even expressed concern that Isabelle might face repercussions because of her involvement.
