One was the handsome man in Glendale, who was always in the gossip headlines; and the other was a controversial actress, who had made a comeback. The two of them being together created a lot of buzz.
As soon as they appeared, nearly half the people in the venue rushed over to ride the wave of their popularity.
Katie was blocked on the outer edge. Realizing that she couldn't squeeze in, she simply gave up and started thinking of another approach.
She glanced at Adrian's position, estimated the timing, and hurried to the swimming pool that Chandler would pass by. There, she quickly adjusted her clothes and adopted an indifferent demeanor.
After a while, Chandler finished socializing and walked over as expected. He recognized her at a glance—Helen's current younger sister, the drama queen, Katie.
Why was she here? Did Helen come along too? But he kept his emotions hidden as he calmly looked ahead and casually moved forward with Arabella, their arms linked.
Katie waited for the right moment. As Chandler got close, she deliberately slipped and threw herself into the swimming pool, shouting, "Ah! Help!"
Chandler was speechless. Was she giving him the chance to play the hero? Did she think she was Helen? Did this have any publicity value? He really couldn't find a reason to save her, so he calmly watched as she fell into the water, his eyes devoid of any emotion.
Katie never expected that Chandler would be so unchivalrous. She had even waited for two seconds. Seeing that he didn't react, she had no choice but to jump into the swimming pool.
After gulping down several mouthfuls of water, she realized no one was coming to her rescue. She was too embarrassed to look up and quickly swam to the ladder on the side.
However, just as she grabbed the handrail of the ladder, things took a turn. A large hand suddenly reached down from above, extending toward her.
Katie's smile froze. As she was about to explain what happened last time, Chandler helped her to clear her name. "You're the poor girl who was deceived by the fake piano association."
Katie suddenly changed from being a scammer to a victim. She was even unable to process it and was momentarily stunned, but she quickly regained her composure and pretended to be pitiful.
"Yes, those people are really bad. You've helped me twice, and I really have no idea how to thank you. My name is Katie Terzian. Just let me know if you ever need any help in the future."
She was well aware that she couldn't really help Chandler, but she said all this just to make him remember her name.
"Katie—what a nice name," Chandler complimented insincerely. "Autumn is coming, and it's getting cold. Let me take you to the lounge to change into some clean clothes."
