Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1515

In the blink of an eye, the day had arrived for Kaylee's maternal grandfather, Claude Haywell, to celebrate his birthday.

The Terzians arrived dressed to the nines, but the Haywell family offered no special welcome. Instead, they mingled with other guests, blending seamlessly into the crowd.

Claude wore a bright red suit. He sat on a makeshift stage, waiting for guests to approach and offer their wishes.

Traditionally, Abraham, as the son-in-law, should have been the first to pay his respects. Instead, he lingered with his family and chatted with others. He deliberately stalled for time, as if trying to distance himself from the Haywell family.

Just as Helen attempted to approach Claude to pay her respects, Abraham stepped in to intercept her.

"Why are you in such a hurry? Your grandfather has plenty of grandchildren; he doesn't need you to go up and flatter him. With your mother gone, our family is just outsiders here.

"We're only here out of courtesy—there's no need to ingratiate ourselves or give the impression that we're trying to climb the social ladder."

"Courtesy, huh? Then why did you stop to chat with the reporters earlier?" Helen shot back sarcastically.

"What nonsense are you spouting? Do you really think I care about being the Haywell family's son-in-law? I was just showing respect for the reporters—it's all just a formality!" Abraham retorted, caught off guard by her accusation.

"Right, just like how you disdain the Haywell family yet insisted on marrying my mother. You got what you wanted, and now you act like you've been wronged."

Helen scoffed at Abraham's hypocrisy. Everything he had today was thanks to the Haywell family, something he had actively sought.

Now that he had found success, he presented himself as a victim. He perfectly embodied the desire to have it both ways—being a hypocrite while still striving for respectability.

Abraham's expression darkened. "Fine, if you want to go, then go. I won't stop you. Just remember, your grandfather has made it clear he never wants to see you again. If you insist on causing trouble and end up in a bind, don't expect me to rescue you!"

"I wouldn't dream of it," Helen replied defiantly.

Claude had always looked down on Abraham, so without him there, Helen felt she might finally have a chance to speak her mind.

"Happy birthday, Grandpa! It's been so long since we last saw each other, and you still look as vibrant as ever!" Katie said warmly, resting both hands on Claude's arms.

With an aloof expression, Claude replied, "Okay."

Yet his gaze remained fixed on Helen.

How long would she keep sulking? It had been two years, and she still hadn't made amends with him.

Helen took a step forward and called out once more, "Grandpa."

At that moment, Claude's spirits lifted, and a wave of joy swelled in his heart.

"Grandpa" had never sounded more delightful than when it came from his beloved granddaughter.
