Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1486

"Wait," Helen's voice sliced through the air. "Did I call for you?"

The two men froze, exchanging glances between Helen and Diana, uncertain about what to do next.

"You," Helen said sternly, fixing her gaze on Diana. "Make sure every single item is brought in personally."

As she spoke, she pressed her foot down deliberately, causing Katie to cry out in pain.

"Okay, okay! Just stop hurting Katie! I'll do it!"

Seeing Katie in such distress, Diana couldn't take it anymore and reluctantly stepped in to help.

Helen towered over Katie, watching as Diana painstakingly moved each item into the house and up the stairs before finally lifting her foot.

Exhausted and sore, Diana was about to sit down to rest when Helen's icy voice shattered the silence once more.

"I'm hungry," she announced, casually reclining on the couch. "Is it too much to expect a stepmother to prepare a meal for her stepdaughter?"

Diana's face drained of color. "It's not too much, but you seem to forget that I've never set foot in the kitchen."

"Well, then, just make an exception this time," Helen said, turning to her with a playful smile. "When someone is hungry, they get irritable, and who knows what trouble that could lead to? I hardly ever ask for anything; can't you show me a little compassion?"

With every subtle jab, someone as perceptive as Diana undoubtedly picked up on the implications. Unfortunately, Abraham was away on a business trip and wouldn't be returning anytime soon.

With Kaylee unexpectedly showcasing her impressive talents, Diana and Katie realized they couldn't confront her. As a result, they had no choice but to swallow their pride for the time being.

"Katie," Helen added, her gaze fixed intently on her. "I'm also craving some red velvet cupcakes from Duo Delights Bakery in Eastvale. Would you be willing to make a trip for me?"

"Of course… um, I mean, I'd love to!" Katie replied, forcing a smile.

The round trip from downtown to Eastvale would take at least three to four hours—Helen was clearly just trying to make her life miserable.

It was just some cupcakes; any shop would do. Katie could easily pick something up on her way, and it was unlikely Helen would notice the difference.

"What are you thinking about, Katie?" Helen asked, effortlessly reading her mind.

She tucked her phone away and flashed a smile. "You probably don't know, but after my trip abroad, my taste buds have become particularly sensitive. If the cupcakes are not from Duo Delights Bakery, I might just get upset."
