Unmasking Mrs. Newton's Secret Identities novel Chapter 1402

"Nothing is more important than your safety," Chandler insisted stubbornly.

"No," Helen countered, her clarity slicing through the tension. "If all of Grand Cathay isn't safe, we can't afford to be complacent. We have responsibilities that extend beyond just the two of us."

She paused, wrapping her arms around Chandler's neck. "I know you've helped me in secret before, but I need you to trust that I can handle this myself. Can you do that?" she whispered.

As Chandler opened his mouth to protest, Helen placed a finger gently on his lips, her gaze intense. "No 'buts.' Those with ill intentions can easily exploit your vulnerabilities. I don't want to be a burden. If you won't let me prove myself, I might as well stay away to keep you safe."

With that, she began to pull away, trying to slip out of his embrace.

Chandler quickly tightened his hold around her waist, drawing her back in. "If you disappear, I'll be so lovesick I might as well wither away!"

With a sigh, he eventually gave in. "Alright, I promise."

A wave of relief washed over Helen as she melted back into his embrace. "Chandler, we both need to stay safe."

She felt the weight of a vast conspiracy surrounding them, one that could turn at any moment.

Fear gripped her—the fear of losing everything she held dear. She also worried that Chandler shared those same concerns.

Though letting go was difficult, she understood that she had to prioritize her own safety, even without him beside her.

This way, regardless of how intimidating the challenges ahead may be, she could confront them without hesitation.

Once the plane touched down in Glendale, Helen made her way back to the villa.

Before Helen could respond, Abigail started to mutter to herself, "I see what happened! That sly guy sweet-talked you into it! He completely tricked you!"

The more Abigail thought about it, the more convinced she became. She slapped her thigh and stood up. "This is outrageous! Chandler Newton, just wait until I settle the score with you!"

Helen shook her head, feeling exasperated. "Even after all this time, your imagination is as wild as ever.

"He didn't trick me. I married him of my own free will."

Still caught up in her dramatic theories, Abigail cupped Helen's face in both hands. "Helly, please, get a hold of yourself! We're still so young and at the peak of our lives. You can't give up your happiness for family obligations!"

Meanwhile, Taylor watched from the sidelines, trying to stifle a laugh at the spectacle.
