"How did you know?" Bentley asked, oblivious to Madelyn's sarcasm. He was genuinely heartbroken, and Vince had been equally devastated by his romantic failures.
Madelyn wiped her tears and turned her face away, unwilling to engage.
"Come on, we're both in the same boat here. I won't judge you," Bentley said, crouching beside her. "What's bothering you?"
"I don't want to talk about it," she replied, turning her head even further away.
"If you'd rather not share, that's okay," Bentley said, tucking the tissues back into his bag.
He took Madelyn's hand and gently pulled her up. "Let's get out of here. Sitting around and getting bitten by mosquitoes won't help. Come on, let's go relax a bit."
"I don't want to! I just want to be alone!" Madelyn was too heartbroken; she didn't want to see anyone.
"Why are you being so stubborn? I remember when I got my first zero on a test—I was devastated! But after spending some time at the arcade, I realized it's just part of life. You need to let it out! Trust me, it'll make you feel better!" Bentley urged.
He had initially planned to spend time with Tommy, but knowing Tommy was committed to his goals, he didn't want to impose. Instead, he opted to come to the bay. Now that he had found a companion, he wasn't going to let her slip away.
"I said I'm not going!" Madelyn protested, her feet planted firmly on the ground as Bentley tried to pull her along. "I'm not good at those games; everyone will just laugh at me!"
"Who would dare laugh at you with me around? Don't worry, I'll show you how it's done," Bentley said, using his strength to pull her up another step.
"I really can't!"
"Oh, come on! We're just having fun, not competing in an esports tournament! It's all about enjoying ourselves! If it gets too overwhelming, you can always cheer for me from the sidelines! Let's go!"
"Who would dare say that about you?" Chandler replied, feigning indignation.
"Please, be serious," Helen urged, her tone solemn. "They say it's better to sink a ship than to break a bond. I was trying to persuade someone to end their relationship, and it felt wrong."
"Well..." Chandler thought for a moment before reaching over to ruffle her hair. "While that saying has some truth, every situation is unique. I trust you wouldn't recommend a breakup without a good reason, so there's nothing wrong with it.
"You've done your part as a friend. It's up to them to decide whether to follow your advice; you shouldn't feel guilty about it."
"I genuinely care about her," Helen replied, her gaze falling as a hint of disappointment flashed in her eyes.
Chandler gently stroked her hair, attempting to change the subject. "By the way, Destiny Corporation recently acquired some emerald mines in Windspire City. Would you like to join me for a visit?"
