Scott had recently faced a series of setbacks; he was first blocked by wealthy women one after another, then all his commercial activities were mysteriously canceled by his company. He was directly sidelined.
Of course, he knew that Tyrone was behind all of these.
However, he remained unbothered and contentedly embraced his role as a homemaker, enjoying life at home. He only went out to deliver takeout food from the nearby restaurant to Mia.
But he was used to being a spendthrift, and his savings quickly ran out. Naturally, he had his eyes on Mia.
On this day, Scott went to see Mia with the lunchbox like usual. As he watched her eating, he casually asked, "Mia, can I borrow your credit card for a while?
"The company hasn't paid me my salary yet, and I've nearly spent all my money. I'm fine personally, but I still need to make you meals every day…"
Mia instantly grabbed her purse and took out one of her credit cards. She was about to hand it over when she suddenly remembered something and purposely slowed her movement.
"Scott, I've been wondering about one thing. What exactly happened between you and Mr. Tyrone? Why do you fight every time you meet?"
"What else could it be? Tyrone is jealous that I'm younger than him and received a lot of attention before, so he deliberately targets me." Scott pulled a long face and looked frustrated at the mention of Tyrone.
"How could that be? Mr. Tyrone is very kind and has helped me a lot before. He is not the type to hold grudges." Mia was doubtful about it.
"So what do you mean?" Scott questioned expressionlessly, "Do you think I did wrong and intentionally slandered Tyrone? Mia, who exactly is your boyfriend?"
"Of course, it's you." Mia didn't expect Scott to be so agitated, so she quickly explained, "That's not what I meant.
"I just think that in any profession, having one more friend is always better than having one more enemy. If we can identify the problem, maybe you can reconcile and become friends."
"Forget it." Scott couldn't be bothered by it. "What's the big deal of offending that hypocrite?"
He then paused and cast a suspicious look at Mia. "You're not falling for him, are you?"
She placed the credit card on the table and turned around, tears of disappointment sliding down her face. "Let's both take a moment to calm down."
Scott tried to say something to ease the tension, but seeing that Mia had no intention of continuing the conversation, he could only give up.
After a moment of silence, he took the credit card and left resentfully.
Once the footsteps had completely faded, Mia wiped away her tears and let out a long sigh.
Then, she took out her phone to call Helen, "Helen, I would like to take half a day off to handle some personal matters."
Helen knew that Mia had finally come to her senses, so she didn't stop Mia and readily agreed, "I'll give you a week off. Don't push yourself too hard.
"After handling everything, you can rest a couple of days before coming back to work."
