Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 984

When Samantha ran off, Hera returned to the bar but only found Bernard. There was no sign of Shaun or Samantha around.

"Hera, I swear I'll never try online dating again. It was so embarrassing!" Samantha sobbed.

Samantha cringed at the memories from the night and wished the ground would swallow her whole. The first thing she did upon returning was delete her dating app account and remove the app entirely, swearing she would never log back in.

When she recalled how Shaun had been her go-to conversation partner for the past half year, a mix of emotions overwhelmed her. How could fate lead her back to her ex?

After Samantha shared the story with her, Hera couldn't help but laugh. "You two are meant to be together."

Samantha argued, "What? It's more like a curse! If it were fate, we wouldn't have broken up five years ago over whose surname our children would have!"

"But you've always been searching for someone who gave you that same feeling you had with Shaun," Hera pointed out.

Samantha wanted to retort but couldn't find the right words. She couldn't deny it. There was always something familiar about Mr. Diamond's tone and views that kept her engaged in their chats.

Seeing her silence, Hera added, "Deep down, you still have feelings for him, don't you?"

Samantha pressed her lips together.

Among all her past boyfriends, Shaun was the one she loved most. She couldn't deny that after they broke up, she had considered getting back together, but only if Shaun came to her first. Yet he never did.

Meanwhile, Shaun was driving aimlessly through the heart of Lumiville. Looking at the unfamiliar city, he felt lost and unsure of where to go. Home wasn't an option as he didn't want to face his grandfather's relentless nagging about marriage. Going back to his place felt lonely, and his close friends were unavailable.

The only people he could call out were party friends, but he had no interest in sharing this embarrassing story with them.

Eventually, he booked a private room at a bar and invited a few acquaintances from Lumiville to drink. When feeling down, Shaun often turned to alcohol to numb his nerves.

Several shots later, the alcohol was kicking in, and the blood was getting to his head. Then, his phone screen lit up with a notification. When he checked it, he thought he was seeing things. Samantha had actually messaged him!
