Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 977

"No, I'm not going with you." Bernard sounded disinterested.

Accompanying Shaun to meet his online friend wasn't fun in the least. Bernard would rather spend time at home with Hera and the twins. She had finally agreed to marry him, so of course, he had to make her happy.

"Don't be so cold-blooded, Bernard. Help me this once," Shaun said earnestly.

"Help, you say?" Bernard was puzzled.

Shaun cleared his throat awkwardly before explaining, "I told her I work as security at a shopping mall and that I earn three grand monthly. I said I don't have a car or a house and that I'm nothing special.

"Even so, she didn't think anything of that and said she wanted to stay by my side. This must be true love!"

Bernard felt a corner of his mouth twitch for the umpteenth time that day, and it wasn't because he was glad. "Role-playing now, aren't you?"

"I'm being serious!" Shaun's expression was grave.

"You're being serious about lying, it seems. Are you going to pretend to be poor for the rest of your life?" Bernard had a bad feeling about it.

Back when he hid his real identity from Hera and she discovered the truth, she was so furious that she wanted to break up with him. He spent a lot of effort trying to coax her and calm her down.

After getting his lesson, Bernard became strongly against the idea of lying.

Shaun cleared the air by saying, "Of course not! Once she and I meet, and if things go well, I'll find a chance to tell her the truth. Since she didn't leave me when she thought I earned three grand, she'd have no reason to leave me after finding out that I'm a millionaire.

"If things don't go well, I'll tell her that you're my boss. I'll signal you, and you'll say that you want to leave. Then, I'll leave with you. It's the perfect cover. She won't embarrass herself by forcing me to stay."

Despite how well-thought-out the plan was, Bernard didn't agree to it. However, they were good friends, so he agreed to help Shaun out.

Eventually, Bernard said, "Fine."

At the beach, Samantha and Hera were done swimming, so they headed back to the shore.

Hera couldn't decide if she should laugh or cringe at Samantha's behavior. "How are you going to meet him? Do you want me to come with you?"

If this so-called "Mr. Diamond" was a scammer, Hera could expose him on the spot so that Samantha wouldn't be scammed again.

Samantha shared the same thought. She nodded eagerly. "Yes, of course! Come with me and tell me what you think of him. I'll tell him that you're my client. If he's a scammer or if he's not like the person he seems to be online, you can take me with you when you leave. And if he's just like the person he seems to be online, you can leave us be."

Hera was quite relieved to know that Samantha wasn't blinded by love. "Okay," she said.

"You're the best, Hera! I'm so glad! I really hope he's the love of my life!" Samantha squealed. She was so thrilled to meet Mr. Diamond that she forgot all about Shaun.

This was her first attempt at online dating and her first time meeting a friend she made online, so she was a little overwhelmed.

She was nervous and afraid that Mr. Diamond wouldn't meet her expectations. At the same time, she worried if he was too good that he wouldn't fall for her.

Tossing and turning in bed, Samantha couldn't sleep all night. Her mind played all sorts of possibilities of her meeting him tomorrow night, and the longer she spent overthinking, the more sleepless she became.
