Samantha was very much displeased to hear that.
Pouting, she said, "How could you take Shaun's back? Do you mean to say that I'm wrong?"
"No," said Hera patiently. "It's a fact. Weren't you gentle and considerate toward him back then? You never yelled at him in the past, right?"
"That's because I don't love him anymore!" Samantha seethed.
"And there you have it," Hera pointed out. "He just doesn't love you anymore."
Samantha fell silent. Somehow, it made her sad to know that Shaun didn't love her anymore.
She'd had lots of boyfriends, and although she would feel a little upset after each breakup, she'd forget her sorrows once she got into a new relationship.
Shaun was the only man she could not forget. Her heart sank after realizing that he had never actually loved her.
"To be honest," she muttered with uncertainty. "I wouldn't have been so mad at him if only he had apologized to me. Maybe we could've… "
Hera heard Samantha's murmuring. Lifting an eyebrow, Hera asked, "What did you say? "
It suddenly came to Samantha's realization that she was thinking about reconciling with Shaun. The thought came as a surprise, even to herself.
There was no denying that she loved and favored Shaun the most out of all her exes. Even so, she would never be so humble as to take the initiative to talk to him so that they would reconcile.
She had done it once, and she had lashed out at him. There was no way the two of them would get back together.
"I-I meant that we could still be friends!" Samantha stammered.
"Really?" Hera quirked an eyebrow as though she could see through Samantha's lie.
Hera wasn't bothered about the matter regarding the twins' surname. She told Samantha, "No, they don't need to change their surnames. It's not like they're going to inherit a royal title anyway. I'll let them decide whose surname they want to take."
Samantha asked, "What would he think if you didn't want to let the twins follow his surname even though they'd be inheriting his assets?"
"I don't think he'll object to the idea. This morning, he even threatened me, saying if we don't register our marriage, he'll have all the male employees in XS Corporation come over to my house and leech off my money."
Samantha whined, "I'm so envious of you! That's why I said Bernard is one of a kind! If Shaun had treated me the way Bernard treated you, I would've married him, and our child would've been older than Dora and Dylan!"
After a pause, she added, "It doesn't matter, though. If things go well between me and Mr. Diamond, I might get pregnant and give birth next year. Your twins and my children could be childhood sweethearts."
Hera laughed. "You haven't even married yourself off, so stop thinking about having a child. I won't object to anyone you date as long as you don't get scammed."
After chatting for a bit, Hera and Samantha got used to the water and swam a few laps in the shallows.
