At that moment, the congested road suddenly cleared up. Benedict stepped on the gas and quickly drove Gideon toward the hospital.
Afterward, Benedict decided to take off as soon as he could. He feared that Gideon would ask him to work overnight if he left any later.
Before leaving, Benedict couldn't help but remind Gideon, "Mr. Everett, based on my life experience, it's best to give a woman some flowers aside from a present. It's more romantic that way."
His remark left Gideon speechless.
"Sir, are you here to visit someone? Would you like to buy some flowers? I hope your friend recovers soon."
A white-haired old lady and a young girl happened to be selling flowers at the hospital entrance. The young girl had spoken to Gideon while gazing hopefully at him.
Gideon took in the sight of the basket of white roses and lilies on the old woman's back and realized there weren't many flowers left. Although it was already dark outside, the pair didn't seem ready to leave unless they sold everything.
"I'll take all the flowers in the basket. How much will that be?" Gideon asked.
The girl was joyful to hear Gideon say that. "Thank you. It'll be 88 dollars. I wish a speedy recovery to the patient you're visiting, and I also hope you'll always be healthy."
Gideon carried the bouquet to Eli's ward. Suddenly, he found it inappropriate to bring flowers to visit a child.
Just as Gideon was wondering how he could get rid of the flowers, Belinda happened to drop by with a thermos flask for dinner. The sight of the flowers in his arms made her smile and say, "These white flowers look fresh. They suit Ms. Gaskell very well."
While speaking, Belinda entered the ward and pushed Amelia to accept the flowers in Gideon's arms.
"Thank you." Amelia accepted the flowers and noticed they were white roses and lilies. She suddenly recalled learning about flower meanings with her friends.
Roses and lilies being paired together represented pure love. The man would love her unconditionally and the couple would lead a perfect love life forever. They would live happily ever after in their little world.
Was that what Gideon meant by that? Amelia suddenly felt nervous.
"Ms. Gaskell, aside from his family members, this is Mr. Everett's first time giving another woman roses," Belinda whispered.
"Gideon, this is too expensive for a child. We can't accept it," she said while returning the phone to Gideon.
When Amelia was unable to contact Eli yesterday, she finally realized that it wasn't convenient for him not to have a phone at his age. She was about to buy a phone for him, but it seemed that Gideon had the same idea as well.
However, the phone was too expensive for Amelia to accept.
Gideon didn't reach for the phone. "My client gave it to me, but I don't need it. If you don't want the phone, we can just get rid of it."
With that, Amelia decided not to reject the gift. She said to Eli, "Eli, quickly thank Mr. Everett."
"Thank you, Mr. Everett." It was rare for Eli to be so obedient. "Mr. Everett, could you give me your number?"
Eli wanted to input Gideon's number first once his phone was set up.
