Under the Heiress' Facade novel Chapter 1055

"Alright." Gideon hummed in response before fishing out an unopened SIM card from his briefcase. "The SIM card came with the phone."

"Thank you." Eli joyfully accepted the SIM card. He immediately took out the phone and inserted the SIM card.

Gideon patiently taught Eli how to register his phone before downloading WhatsApp and other apps. They also exchanged phone numbers.

Eli was a fast learner. There were things he knew what to do without needing Gideon to teach him. The two got on very well.

Gideon quite liked Eli and felt strangely close to him. That warmth made Gideon want to spend more time with Eli.

Amelia felt happy whenever she saw Gideon and Eli's smiles. Eli was still young, so he fully believed Gideon's explanation that a client had given him the phone.

But Amelia wasn't a fool. At the start, she had been suspicious when Gideon mentioned that the phone was given by a client. Now that he had provided a SIM card as well, she became certain that Gideon had intentionally prepared it. He had made up that explanation, fearing they wouldn't accept the gift.

How could Amelia not feel touched by his thoughtfulness? She couldn't even help but imagine that they might even be a happy family of three by now if Gideon hadn't rejected her back then.

That memory of Gideon rejecting her confession back then made Amelia's joy fade away. It was instantly replaced with uncertainty and worry.

Amelia was very conflicted. If Gideon truly had feelings for her, he and Eli could build their relationship as father and son.

However, if it was a one-sided situation and Amelia had misunderstood Gideon, she couldn't take Eli with her and leave the city after seeing how Eli and Gideon were getting along.

"Mr. Everett, Ms. Gaskell, Eli should eat while the food's still warm. I also brought some dinner for you two. Let's eat together." Belinda opened the insulated containers.

"Sure." Gideon hummed in response before giving Belinda a hand.

Eli got out of bed to wash his hands. Afterward, he returned to sit on the sickbed and have dinner with Gideon and Amelia.

After all, Belinda did encourage her to take the initiative. Amelia agreed with that as well, so she mustered the courage to text Gideon, "Eli's getting discharged from the hospital tonight. Would you like to come over for dinner? Aside from celebrating him being able to come home, we wish to thank you as well."

After sending the text, Amelia stared at her phone. She couldn't help but feel nervous. She was looking forward to him saying yes, which would mean there was a chance for them to work things out.

She guessed that Gideon would agree. After all, he would drop by to visit Eli after work no matter how late it was. Gideon even brought dinner or supper for her.

Amelia could tell that he really liked Eli. If possible, she wanted Gideon and Eli to reunite as father and son. They would then become a happy family of three.

With that in mind, Amelia stared at the "Gideon is typing…" and became more nervous.

After some time, that disappeared, and she received a reply, "No, thank you."

His simple answer instantly washed over her like cold water. He had rejected her.
