My reaction instantly excited everyone in the room. They cheered and jeered, surrounding me in the middle.
My head was spinning, and my vision blurry. I couldn't breathe properly, and I was overwhelmed by the suffocating atmosphere.
Conscious of something, I looked at Kenton in disbelief, my heart sinking. Struggling to maintain the last bit of sanity, I asked in a voiceless tone:
"You and them... drugged me?"
Someone grabbed my wrist, leaned down and blew smoke in my face. The cold lighter pressed against my face.
"This drug is called 'obedience water.' After drinking it, you'll be completely obedient. Whatever anyone says, you'll do—good puppy. You must make us happy."
The harsh laughter pierced my eardrums, making my whole body shiver.
"Come on, little slut, bark like a dog for everyone to see!"
I bit my tongue hard, trying to call out to Kenton for help.
"Kenton! Take me to the hospital, please... I beg you..."
Don't make me suffer like this, don't make me hate you...
But his indifferent eyes and Evelyn's mocking laughter merged together, extinguishing the last hope in my heart.
I heard myself opening my mouth involuntarily, "Woof—"
Tears mixed with despair and humiliation flowed down. I looked at Kenton's face, but couldn't find a trace of love.
I realized how stupid I'd been.
I stared blankly at the ceiling, fragments of memories constantly surfacing in my mind.
My heart was gradually turning cold too.
Kenton said something else, but I didn't hear clearly.
After a while, he left the room with Evelyn.
"Rest well. I'll come to see you later."
I lay stiffly in bed for a long time. Finally I pulling out my phone from the torn dress.
Someone had posted what happened last night. The video of me crawling on the floor and barking like a dog was uploaded online, and it was crystal clear.
