The words were ambiguous, and I sensed danger. I couldn't help but try to break free, feeling more and more anxious.
Evelyn popped her head out from behind him, her smile pure.
"Hey, don't scare my future sister-in-law! You guys stop it."
She forcefully pulled me from the doorway to the center of the private room. The overhead light shone down, making me completely exposed.
I looked toward Kenton for help, hoping he would see my discomfort and take me away.
But he sat far away in the corner of the room, casually swirling a glass of wine, indifferent to what was happening, with no intention of stopping it.
When our eyes met, he smiled—just as gently as before—but it made me shiver, and in that instant, I snapped back to reality.
I had almost forgotten—this person with the most harmless face was the mastermind who had hurt me.
I was completely helpless here.
Suddenly, a glass of wine was placed in front of me, blocking my line of sight with Kenton.
Evelyn smiled at me.
"Sis, what happened yesterday was my fault. I wasn't very skilled, and I know it caused you pain. I wanted to apologize. Drink this glass of wine, and just consider it my way of making it up to you, okay?"
"And about those sexy photos online..."
She pretended to be unaware of the photos online, pulling her phone out and showing it to me.
"Sis, is this really you? If it is, who took these photos... You wouldn't be hiding something from my brother, would you..."
She glanced at Kenton, pretending to be magnanimous.
"But it doesn't matter. I believe you! My brother must believe you too! Drink this glass of wine, and everything will be in the past!"
Because he didn't care, he didn't mind, and so he would agree to whatever I said.
Suppressing the bitterness in my heart, I took the glass.
"Will I be able to leave once I drink this? I'm tired and want to go back to rest."
Kenton paused, and at the sound of Evelyn's cough, he finally agreed.
The strong alcohol burned my throat, making me uncomfortable.
I put down the glass and turned to leave, eager to escape this dangerous place.
This time, no one stopped me.
But just as I grasped the handle, my body suddenly lost control and collapsed.
