Kenton was completely speechless.
He stammered for a long time and couldn't even say a complete sentence.
"I...I didn't mean it that way..."
"I really wanted to talk things through with you! We've had four years together—how can we just end it like this, so ambiguously?"
I sneered.
"Or what? To continue being humiliated by you and your so-called friends?"
Kenton knew he was in the wrong and lowered his tone even more.
"I'm sorry, I really know I was wrong. Can you forgive me? I'll have them come and apologize to you."
"No need."
I interrupted him, turned to leave, but he wouldn't let me. "Let me explain one last time, okay?"
Lucas stepped forward, displeased, ready to shove him away. Kenton looked at me, hoping I'd spare him some dignity.
