The Third Year After My Fiancé Left Home, I Got Pregnant novel Chapter 9

After a month in prison, Jack was rushed to the hospital with a severe fever.

As soon as I heard, I sent the country’s top burn specialists to treat him, sparing no expense.

Three months later, doctors managed to take skin from his back and buttocks to cover the burned areas. His face, however, would never be the same again.

After the treatment, he could speak again, though his voice sounded like a cracked bell.

Eventually, he was approved for discharge.

At the hospital, doctors told Jack that a kind person had saved him by paying his medical bills.

He wondered who it could be until he saw me. That’s when he finally understood.

After everything that had happened, he no longer believed I would have any lingering feelings for him. “You saved me? What do you really want?”

I sat in my luxury car, admiring my freshly done manicure. Outside stood a monster covered in scars.

“You brought this all on yourself. So cherish it!

“This is the price for abandoning me three years ago. Don’t think I’ve been pining for you—I just like to finish what I start.

I tossed my water bottle out the window.

It hit Jack squarely on the head, knocking his cap to the ground.

People passing by the hospital screamed when they saw Jack’s face.

“That must be a monster! Those marks all over his face are terrifying!”

“Why doesn’t this freak stay home instead of coming out to disgust people? If there weren’t police around, I’d kick him away myself!”

“How unlucky to see such a disgusting creature!”
