"Methane, are you okay?" Riya asked as we all looked at her.

"Yes, I am fine just happy that ma'am is alive, it's wonderful news". She smiles

Riya decided to stay back at the hospital with Elena, while the rest of the family left.

I turned my back and saw methane staring at the statue of the virgin mary, I walked closer and saw that she was busy praying, after she finished with her prayers, she turned and was startled by my presence.

" jeez! Calm down sweetheart, did you think I was Elena?" I teased her.

"No! I knew it was you and besides, one failed attempt can't stop me from trying it over again".

She said.

I giggled, it's either she thinks this is a child's hide and seeks game or she's only trying to get the idea off her mind that Elena is alive.

My mom still being alive will only mean that there is a storm brewing in and setting location to her.

" Sweetheart, I will advise you to go far away from here because if Elena gets a hold of you, you will beg for death and it won't come so easily".

I turned to leave.

She snatches me back from leaving.

"Look, I know that I let my emotions get the better of me, but please what can we do, huh! I can not hide away because of Elena,"

She grabbed my hands.

I noticed the tense look she donned on, but the one important piece of information I know about my mom, is that no one likes her, she has hurt numerous people, to a certain extent that few of them wants her dead, who the right person would gladly fit in and take the fall for methane silly mistake.

I just have to find the right person.

" Okay, I'll help you, but give me some time, you will see what happens next,"

I gave her my word and walked away.

THE NEXT DAY - I stayed back at the hospital, Riya slept like a baby laying on my lap, and I had no sleep at all.

"Psst"

I veered back and saw methane calling out to me, she signaled, we meet outside the hospital.

After a few seconds' headcount , I gently laid Riya's head down and walked out to meet her.

"Hey! What is it?". I said.

She swivels wearing a terrified look on her face, " Andres! You asked me to trust you but it's been hours now, yet nothing has happened, can you tell me what's going on?".

She said.

"Look! I did tell you to trust me and you should, we need not do anything stupid, so please calm yourself down and let me do my job".

I walked into the hospital.

Methane walked in after a few seconds contemplating to herself.

Riya screamed out loud attaining our attention.

"Riya what is going on!"

I dashed into Elena's ward and saw a masked man holding a gun to Elena's head, Riya veers her eyes donning a sad look at me.

There is an adage that goes like this, and I quote, the fastest way to a man's heart is through his stomach but permit me to rephrase this statement and say, the fastest way to kill my mom is through her sanity, drag her down to a point when she's at her lowest, you can as well strick the final blow. (Evil smile)

And it hasn't been an hour since methane left my room, Riya sneaks in without my knowledge.

"Hello, handsome" she smiles.

"Hello, Riya, what are you doing here?" I asked fiddling for her response.

"What do you mean why I'm here? Can't I come to talk with you anymore? Ain't we friends?". She frowns at me.

I had no idea that our relationship can be tagged friends, I have always thought that I was the guy, who normally comes to her rescue! Nothing more, nothing less.

"Wow, Riya! You surprise me with your words".

I smirked.

Riya giggled seeing the look I had on, she takes three steps closer to where I stood, our eyes locked for a while before she proceeds with her statement.

"We can be more if you want to! Do you?".

She added.

I noticed the gilt in her eyes, does it mean she wants us to be more than friends?.

"Yes! I do want us to be more than friends! And do you wanna know something else?" She gives herself a time out before recessing her words again to me, "I love you Salem Baltimore! I am in love with you and I do know that it might come as a shock to you but please don't say no to me".
