Chapter 28
What was he getting at now? I wondered, feeling a familiar unease creeping in.
Reluctantly, I closed the lid on the piano and was led back into the room by him.
Leo drifted off quickly, his breathing even, but sleep eluded me entirely.
It had been almost six months since we’d last shared a bed, and the unfamiliarity was jarring.
It felt strange, almost unnatural, having him beside me again.
No matter how much I tried, I couldn’t find any comfort in his presence.
Finally, I gave up and quietly slipped out of bed to find my sleeping pills.
Just as I began to move, Leo’s hand shot out, grabbing my wrist and pulling me back down.
“Where are you going?” He demanded, his voice laced with suspicion.
“I can’t sleep,” I whispered,” I was going to get my melatonin.”
“You need pills now, just to sleep next to me?”
