When Blake reentered the interrogation room, Nickson took a glance at him. "You just had to waste half an hour to meet your lawyer, didn't you? She won't be of any help."
Blake calmly replied, "My lawyer will find the evidence needed."
Nickson sneered. "The evidence is already conclusive. Witness testimony and material evidence—everything is in place! I'm just here to ask you questions. It won't be long before this case is closed and judged.
"I suggest you stop wasting everyone's time. Admit your crime and end this quickly!"
His eagerness to push for a confession made Blake suspicious. He replied seriously, "The trial hasn't even begun. Officer Chandler, you seem a little too eager."
Nickson's voice rose. "This is about making you face your crimes. Your constant denial only highlights your intent to harm the victim! Since you won't cooperate, you can sit here and wait for the court's sentencing!"
After leaving the interrogation room, Nickson exited the police station and got into his car. Once inside, he dialed a number.
A deep voice answered on the other end. "How's the situation?"
Nickson quickly responded, "That kid won't budge no matter how hard I press! But I have witnesses and evidence. In two days, it won't matter if he confesses or not. His fate is sealed."
The voice on the other end pressed on, "Did you handle everything I told you to?"
Nickson glanced around before speaking in a hushed tone. "Don't worry. I've had Blake's brakes fixed, so it's back to normal. As for Ross' car, it's been completely destroyed. There's no way any evidence will be left behind."
The voice remained steady, showing no sign of panic. "Good. The money has already been transferred to the overseas account. There won't be any trace left behind."
Nickson nodded eagerly. "Thank you very much! Rest assured, with me here, Blake will be heavily sentenced and thrown into prison!"
Fabian's sharp mind quickly grasped the implication. "Are you saying that Wynter suspects this attack was aimed at the entire Quinnell family?"
Alexis nodded.
Fabian's gaze darkened. "Go and instruct all departments in the company to conduct a thorough internal review. Also, place the Crimson Warden statue where Wynter said to. It should be positioned in the east. Do this discreetly. No need to draw attention."
Alexis understood exactly what Fabian meant.
The Crimson Warden statue, though not large, was intricately crafted and had been left by Wynter before she departed for Colifernia. She had said placing it in the eastern part of the company could ward off misfortune when the family met a crisis.
At the time, with the Quinnell family riding high, Fabian hadn't thought such precautions would ever be necessary. But now, it seemed Wynter's foresight had been accurate—trouble had indeed arrived.
