I Was the Stepping Stone novel Chapter 89

Chapter 19

“Katherine, what you said was all nonsense, I don’t believe a word of it!” Andrew said, confidently and firmly, as he walked away, with his hand on his waist. “You have loved me for eight years, it’s not something that can be easily let go. One day, I will win you back and bring you home!”

Katherine ignored him and helped Dominic sit on the couch. She treated his wound and spoke in a serious tone, “The bruise on your waist is quite severe. Let me help you take a bath for the next few days.”

“You were not allowed to help him take a bath!”

From outside the window came Andrew’s furious voice. “Katherine, I warned you not to challenge my limits, or

else I won’t spare you!”

“Andrew, haven’t you realized the situation yet?” Dominic declared his authority by wrapping his arm around Katherine’s waist, looking at him through the window. “Even when you were injured, she didn’t bother to glance at you, only worried about me. You know better than anyone what that signifies.”

“Stop trying to salvage what’s already lost, accept the reality.”

Andrew couldn’t help but feel heartbroken as he watched the scene of Katherine obediently snuggling in the

man’s arms.

He suppressed his anger and disappointment, and said in a hoarse voice, “You were just a pawn in her and my quarrel, what is there to be proud of?”

“She loved only me all along!”

Dominic smiled faintly and said, “Katherine, can you sing a lullaby to help me sleep tonight?”

“Okay.”

“Katherine, you were not allowed to sing him a lullaby!”

Andrew, who was driven out of the villa, roared like an injured lion, “That lullaby was the 18th birthday gift you gave me, it was only mine. Please don’t sing it to him, don’t treat me like this, I can’t take it!”

“I would buy you the best seaside villa, customize the most glamorous dresses for you. I can do anything for you, please don’t sing for him!”

No matter how he cried and shouted, he still couldn’t stop the gentle voice of the woman from resounding.

The sound pierced Andrew’s heart like a sharp sword, leaving him writhing in pain as he clutched his chest and collapsed to the ground.

The scene flashed before his eyes, with him lying on a bed in a mental hospital and Katherine sitting by the

bedside

Her slender and icy-cold fingers gently caressed his hair as she softly sang a melodious tune, “Sleep, Andrew, I will always be by your side.”

“Will you always be with me?”

“Yes.”

“Only let me sing alone?”

“Um.”

“Will you really never leave me?”

“No.” The woman’s voice was firm and resolute. “Even if one day the Grim Reaper takes me away from your

side, I will become a wisp of ghost and forever accompany you.”

The familiar song is now playing, but it is her singing for another man, no longer him.

Andrew covered his face and cried in pain, regretting to the point where he wished he could kill his former
