Rise of the returned sister (by Isla) novel Chapter 33

Chapter 33

Janie and Jackson stepped outside and spotted David not far away.

Jackson was surprised to see him.

David approached stealthily and whispered. Let’s get in the car.

They couldn’t linger outside.

Alright,Jackson said.

They all climbed into the car, and David started it without delay.

Just then, Ryan and Ethan struggled to get up, stumbling as they chased after Janie and Jackson, only to see David’s car speeding away. They had no choice but to stop.

Janic, Jackson, and David had no intention of hanging around the hospital any longer. With nothing else pressing, they decided to head back to the filming site.

Janie was always reliable. He never worried when she took charge. The thought of those two brothers having a hard time brought him some comfort.

David felt a gnawing anxiety, but he didn’t know how to voice it.

Finally, he couldn’t hold back any longer and asked, Miss Janie, if I may be so bold, what is your relationship with the Jenkins family? Their attitudes are quite strange.

Janie was unsurprised by his question. She knew he had been holding it in for a while.

Jackson glared at David, feeling quite displeased. He genuinely despised the Jenkins family and didn’t want anyone to know about Janie’s connection to them. Besides, he was her brother.

Janie didn’t want to lie or disclose her ties to the Jenkins family. The fewer people who knew, the better. She had no desire to associate with them, and it was clear they didn’t want too many people in on their business either.

She simply replied, I’m sorry, but I’d prefer not to go into details. I can only say that we had some past entanglements, but now we have no relation at all.

David’s curiosity was quelled.

Janie wasn’t brushing him off, nor was she lying. Since their ties were severed, he wouldn’t have to press her for personal

secrets.

David nodded and said, I understand.

Preparing to start the car, he added, Then let’s get going.”

The thought of being around people he didn’t mind at the filming site lifted his spirits slightly.

Janie nodded in agreement.

Just then, David’s phone rang.

He glanced at it and looked back at Janie and Jackson in the rearview mirror. Sorry, I need to take this call.

Jackson lazily nodded.

David answered the call, but his previously relaxed expression tightened with concern. Breathing heavily, he exclaimed, What? I’ll be back right away.

He ended the call hastily, took a deep breath, and looked at Janie and Jackson, trying to remain calm. It seems I can’t go with you for now. There’s an emergency at home, and I need to head there first.

Jackson nodded in understanding and reached for Janie to get out of the car.

David hesitated, wanting to say something but unsure how to begin.

Janie sensed his turmoil and asked, Do you need help?”

Touched by her kindness, David nodded eagerly. I can’t shake the feeling that this is somehow related to my bad luck. Miss Janie, if you don’t mind, could you come with me? I know it’s presumptuous, but

Janie agreed, Let’s go.

David’s eyes glistened slightly with gratitude. Thank you.”

Jackson, of course, didn’t object. He always followed Janie’s lead.

Janie appeared aloof, but in truth, she was kinder than anyone else.

Noticing David’s distress, Janie frowned slightly. You don’t look well. Maybe you shouldn’t drive.

Jackson immediately said, I’ll drive.

The Smithswasn’t far away, and they arrived quickly.

The Smith family was a wellknown affluent clan in Woodland.

Though David had achieved celebrity status, he had kept a low profile, and few knew of his distinguished background.

You’re finally home, Mr. Smith.

The butler was waiting outside and rushed over anxiously as soon as he saw David get out of the car. His eyes widened in surprise when he noticed Janie and Jackson stepping out too.

After all, David rarely brought anyone with him, especially not under such urgent circumstances. And this time, it was an extremely beautiful girl.

Of course, Jackson was completely overlooked.

David, filled with concern, asked, What happened to Grandpa?

The butler’s face was etched with worry. Mr. Smith suddenly collapsed, bleeding from all his orifices. We can’t find any issues despite all the tests.

We couldn’t find anything at the hospital either, but he just won’t wake up. Everyone is frantic.

William had suddenly fainted, unconscious yet with a normal pulse and heartbeat. The hospital couldn’t pinpoint the problem, so they had to bring him home.

The Smith family had advanced medical equipment and a topnotch healthcare team that could provide the best care.
