Chapter 145
Janie’s teasing made Spencer’s ears flush red
The Night Guards stared at them with wide eyes, their mouths hanging open as if they could fit an entire egg inside.
They couldn’t help but marvel for the umpteenth time, wondering. “Mr. Alvarez is so obedient in front of Miss Janie. She’s always got him wrapped around her finger. The sight of Miss Janie teasing Mr. Alvarez is just… something to behold
Unable to control themselves, the Night Guards couldn’t take their eyes off Janie and Spencer, their smiles turning increasingly lewd and creepy.
Fortunately, they valued their lives too much to act recklessly. They exchanged looks and quickly scurried off.
Spencer was satisfied with it. He gently cupped Janie’s face in his hands, his eyes locked on hers with intense focus. Her eyes sparkled, lighting up his otherwise dark path.
Janie shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. “What’s wrong? Are you falling for my beauty?”
Spencer whispered hoarsely, “Yes, I’ve been enchanted for a long time…” He couldn’t he
but move closer to Janie.
Janie’s cheeks flushed slightly. Before he could react, she kissed him first.
Spencer’s hands moved instinctively to her waist, pulling her closer, each moment full of tension and desire, hard to break away from.
Elderlands was an incredibly livable place, and Janie and Spencer had been staying there recently.
Janie had been quite free lately. Her days mostly consisted of tending to spiritual plants and making pills, and when she wasn’t doing that, she was wrapped up in Spencer’s arms.
Spencer, on the other hand, had been just as free. He spent his days with her, almost as if he had no other responsibilities.
“Spenny, you don’t have to stay with me all the time. If you have things to do, go ahead and handle them,” Janie suddenly said one day while nestled in Spencer’s arms.
Spencer paused, looking almost hurt as if she had wounded him. “Wait… Are you saying you don’t want to be with me anymore? Do you not love me anymore?”
Although Janie knew he was only pretending, she couldn’t help but soften.
She quickly cupped his face, speaking gently. “Of course not! I want to be with you all the time. But you’re such a busy man, and I don’t want to keep you from your work.”
Spencer’s lips curled into a smile, and he leaned in to kiss her. “The important things won’t be delayed. I just want to be with you. Is that okay, Janie?”
Janie couldn’t bear to refuse at all. She nodded immediately. “Of course, yes.”
She kissed him several times on the cheek. “I definitely want to stay with you forever.
Spencer’s smile grew wider, and he couldn’t resist getting closer. But Janie pulled away, lying back down in his embrace.
Spencer chuckled softly, pulling her closer with a tender embrace. Janie yawned, her eyes starting to close
Spencer ran his fingers through her hair, his touch soft and rhythmic. At first, Janie hadn’t felt tired, but now she was starting

As she drifted into sleep, the spiritual stone beside them lit up. This was the device that connected Elderlands with the outside world.
