Zion let out a sharp laugh. “Are you serious? That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all day. Iler?”

Jackson’s icy glare cut through the room. By all means, laugh yourself to death, idiot.”

Ryan’s voice overlapped with his. “Enough!”

Zion’s face burned as he whipped toward Jackson “Who do you think you are, calling me an idiot?”

Jackson smiled, “I don’t think. Zion. 1 know. You’re an idiot.”

“You—” Zion shot up from his chair.

He had been used to being praised, but after facing setbacks one after another, and now being insulted directly, he was completely broken down.

Ryan pulled him back. “That’s enough, Zion.”

His voice dropped to a low, warning tone as he turned to Jackson. “Mr. Moore, I apologize on my brother’s behalf. He’s out of line, but your words were unnecessary. I’d appreciate it if both of you could apologize and move forward.”

Jackson’s grin faded, replaced by a look that could freeze lava.

For years, no one had dared to tell Jackson Moore what to do, and he wasn’t about to start now.

In just a few hours, she’d be gone–and Ryan had no idea where to even begin finding her afterward.

The weight of it hit like a punch to the gut. His own sister felt like a stranger, more distant than someone he’d passed on the street.

The room was cloaked in awkward silence.

As everyone packed their belongings back at the cabin, the air buzzed with anticipation.

Emily lingered awkwardly near David. “David, thank you so much for coming on the show because of me. It means a lot. Take care on your way back.”

David didn’t mind her indifference one bit, and he trotted over cheerfully.

Seeing this. Emily wished she could smack him!
