Chapter 187

As soon as the Bennett Family arrived, everyone rushed to greet them warmly.

Lydia, the birthday girl, was the center of attention, with everyone fawning over her as she walked into the hotel

Emily, dressed in a cheap shirt and jeans, was the last to get out of the car. No one even noticed her arrival

Yvonne, however, saw Emily and instinctively wanted to make a side remark, but the words caught in her throat. Finally, the shot Emily a resentful glare before hurrying after Lydia.

She thought, ‘As long as Emily steps into that hotel today, there’s no way she’s getting off easy

Emily, however, was completely oblivious to all this. After entering the hotel, she checked out the cameras around her, then picked a spot in the corner and sat down

She didn’t eat anything from the party or talk to anyone. Since she knew Lydia was up to no good, she had to stay on guard, but she couldn’t just walk

out either.

With the Bennett Family backing Lydia up, Emily couldn’t be sure what kind of trouble Lydia might stir up with Charles.

Luckily, Lydia was surrounded by a crowd, completely caught up in all the attention, as if she’d forgotten Emily even

en existed.

Vincent stayed by Lydia’s side the whole time, playing the perfect knight in shining armor as he took out the gift he’d prepared

He said, “Lydia, this necklace is the very first design of my life, and it’s the one I’m most proud of. I call it Starry River.

“couldn’t make it before because I couldn’t find the right materials, but after my family recently acquired a purple diamond, I personally went to the studio and crafted it just for you. Do you like it?”

The Shaw Family was in the jewelry business, and in Cloudridge, they had access to the finest materials. Plus, since Vincent had designed and made the necklace himself, it was truly one of a kind.

Lydia’s face lit up with delight and emotion, and she nodded excitedly. She exclaimed, “I love it. Vincent, you are so good to me.”

Vincent affectionately stroked her head and said, “You’re my fiancée. Of course, I should be good to you, I made this especially for your birthday. If you like it, let me help you put it on.”

Emily, who had been quietly sitting in the comer, almost completely unnoticed, suddenly looked up in shock when she heard the words “Starry River.”

She could still remember the day that the sketch first came to life. It was a weekend back in high school–Vincent had been helping her with homework when he’d absentmindedly sketched it right there on her textbook.
