Chapter 151

Tears slipped down from the corners of Lydia’s eyes, making her look so broken and delicate, it made one’s heart ache for

her.

At least, that’s how Lucas felt-his heart ached so much he lost all reason for a moment. He hurled the folder in his hand straight at Emily’s face and snapped, “That’s enough, Emily. Grandpa and Bob have always treated you so well.

“Now that something this serious has happened, even Lydia has been crying her eyes out every day from worry, and you’re still scheming against her.

“If Grandpa knew just how vicious and devious you really are, he’d probably be so angry he’d drop dead all over again.”

The heavy folder smacked Emily across the face like a slap, the sharp corner leaving a stinging red line on her cheek. She didn’t even flinch. Insults, violence-none of it fazed her. But what Lucas said was the one thing she couldn’t tolerate.

Emily whipped around and slapped Lucas across the face with a sharp crack. The look in her eyes was icy, laced with bone- deep hatred.

For a second, Lucas forgot all about the slap-he just stared at Emily, dumbfounded. He couldn’t believe Emily would look at him like this.

“Emily, how could you hit Lucas?” Lydia cried out, rushing over to Lucas and gently cupping his face, her heart aching for him.

She shot Emily a glare, her eyes full of reproach. She said, “Lucas only got mad because he was worried about you. Why did you have to hit him? We shouldn’t have kept what happened to Bob from Grandpa in the first place.

“He was bound to find out sooner or later. I only told him because he seemed to be in good spirits, and I figured he’d been through so much in his life, he could take it.

“Who could’ve known he would end up in a coma?”

Her words made it sound like she was completely innocent, and if anything happened, it was just Charles’s own fault for not being able to handle it.

Emily’s last shred of sanity snapped. She grabbed Lydia’s hair and yanked it back hard. She said through gritted teeth, “You thought Grandpa could handle it? Then let’s see if you can handle my revenge.”

She then landed a stinging slap right across Lydia’s face. She spat, If you’ve got some scheme, bring it to me. Even if you want my life, I’m not scared. But the one thing you should never have done is drag Grandpa into your mess.”

Her tone was vicious, her hand ruthless-she didn’t hold back at all. Slap after slap landed, and Lydia’s face swelled up in no time.

As she kept hitting Lydia, Emily warned coldly, “Lydia, let me make this clear. I’ve got nothing left to lose. If you ever hurt Grandpa again, I swear I’ll take you down with me.”

Lydia was forced to tilt her head back and lock eyes with Emily, terror flooding her as a cold chill crept up her spine. She could feel it-Emily genuinely wanted her dead.

After several sharp slaps rang out, Lucas finally snapped out of it and rushed over to break them apart. He shouted, “Emily, let her go.” He grabbed Emily’s hand, untangled Lydia’s hair, and quickly pulled her into his arms, shielding her protectively.

He glared furiously at Emily and snapped, “Lydia meant well! She never wanted things to end up like this. What right do you have to blame her? You treat her like this right in front of me?

“Who knows how you bully her when I’m not around? You’ve gone way too far.”
