Chapter 120

‘All we ever wanted was for Emily to let go of her jealousy and greed and get along with Lydia. That’s not too much to ask, but Emily has never managed to do that.’

Bob took a deep breath, trying to suppress his anger, afraid he might lose control and confront Andrew. “I’ll take Emily to the hospital first. If you need anything, you can come to me directly.”

Supporting a silent Emily, Bob walked straight out without giving the Bennett family a single glance.

Emily’s cold demeanor made Andrew panic. Instinctively, he wanted to go after her, but Lydia grabbed his arm. “Andrew, Bob and Emily are both pissed off right now. Following them won’t help; it’s better to wait until they calm down.”

She put on a caring facade, saying, “I believe Emily understands you, Andrew. She knows you only pushed her because you were thinking about Lila and lost your temper.”

Mentioning that name made everyone instinctively glance at Andrew, whose face darkened instantly. The dazed look in his eyes from watching Emily leave was now replaced with anger.

Andrew turned to look at Lydia, sincerely promising her, “Don’t worry, Lydia. Emily will definitely give you an explanation for the kidnapping.”

He thought, ‘I’ve forgiven Emily once before, but she hasn’t shown any remorse and has used the same tactics against Lydia. This time, I won’t forgive her easily.

Tears welled up in Lydia’s eyes as she looked touched. “Andrew, you’re so good to me.”

Despite the severity of Emily’s injuries, they were actually just scrapes and not too serious. But seeing it still made Bob’s heart ache.

What pained him even more was that during the treatment, Emily didn’t cry out once or even frown. It seemed ike she was accustomed to such injuries. In the past, if she got hurt like this, she would have cried and complained o Charles.

Bob couldn’t help but ask, “Emily, what on earth happened to you in the past two years abroad?”

The Bennett family had hidden Emily’s whereabouts so well that he and Charles hadn’t found any clues in the past wo years, nor could they find out what she had been through.

He thought, “The once bold and cheerful Emily must have endured a lot to become like this.’

Emily had no intention of revealing her experiences from the past two years, both out of unwillingness and necessity.

Bob knew she was stubborn. Once she made up her mind, no amount of persuasion would change her thoughts. Even if he were curious, he knew he wouldn’t get any answers.

So, he changed the topic. “I won’t ask about the past, but I’ll definitely get to the bottom of what Mr. Andrew

Bennett mentioned earlier.”

He didn’t understand what proof Andrew had to accuse Emily straight away, but he believed Emily would never do

Emily felt a slight pang in her chest. When Andrew questioned her, she only felt a mix of amusement and inevitability.
