Chapter 114
Austin’s icy stare sent a chill down Lydia’s spine, making her involuntarily shudder.
But inside, Lydia was secretly delighted. ‘He must have believed me, and now he’s starting to suspect Emily,’ she thought triumphantly.
Lydia’s lips curled into a fleeting smirk, gone in an instant. “These are all things I saw with my own eyes. Emily, she…” she responded meekly, keeping her head lowered.
“So, this was all your doing,” Austin cut her off abruptly, his voice taking on an unsettling, almost mocking edge.
Lydia looked up at him, finally sensing something was off.
But before Lydia could dwell on it, Austin beckoned her over with a deceptively gentle smile. “Come here,” he called.
Austin flashed Lydia a disarming, dimpled smile, making his handsome face seem even more radiant. For a split second, Lydia was dazed by his charm, thinking, ‘How could someone so dangerous look so gentle?’
She didn’t think twice and walked right over. The next instant, Austin’s hand shot out and clamped around Lydia’s throat.
Lydia was violently slammed against the iron door, her head smashing into the metal with a sickening thud. Dizziness washed over her, but that was the least of her concerns.
Lydia’s head was forced back as she frantically clawed at Austin’s hand clamped around her throat, her face frozen in utter disbelief.
Austin’s smile remained fixed, his eyes unsettlingly clear. Yet to Lydia, the face she saw was nothing short of a demon.
“Y-you… You…” Lydia gasped, her mouth gaping in a desperate attempt to speak, but Austin’s crushing grip on her throat turned every breath into a struggle.
Austin chuckled darkly. “Who gave you the right to spread rumors about my Emily?”
Austin’s grip tightened inch by inch. “Just seeing you ruins Emily’s mood. Tell me…”
He paused, his eyes darkening with murderous intent. “Tell me, shouldn’t I make sure you never appear before Emily again?”
Lydia’s pupils contracted sharply. ‘He genuinely wants to kill me!’ she realized in horror.
“N-no…” Lydia struggled to speak, but after what felt like an eternity, she could only choke out a single word.
As the air in her lungs grew thinner, Lydia thought in terror, ‘This is the second time I’ve been this close to dying. The first time I came this close to dying was right after I first woke up in this world.’
Lydia was terrified of death; she cherished her life more than anyone.
‘After all the scheming to take everything from Emily, after finally gaining this status and position, how could I die

Chapter 114
like this, Lydia thought desperately.
No matter how frantically Lydia pleaded for help, even as her vision faded to white, no one came to her rescue.
Just as Lydia was convinced that she would die, the hand around her throat abruptly released its grip.
Lydia clutched her throat, coughing violently as she sprawled on the ground, a complete mess, nothing like the innocent girl she had seen when she first appeared.
Austin looked down at her with cold disdain, then wiped the hand that had just choked her against his clothes as if he’d touched something filthy.
