Rejected Luna Returns with Secret Twins (Lysandra) novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Lysandra’s POV

Miss Ravencroft? Miss Ravencroft, we’ve arrived.

The voice pulled me from a dreamless sleep. A sharp knock on the window jolted me fully awake, and I blinked rapidly, disoriented by the unfamiliar surroundings. My driver stood outside, his face visible through the glass as he leaned down.

What the hell?I muttered, hitting the button to lower the window.

The driver bowed slightly. Miss Ravencroft, we’ve arrived.

I scanned our surroundings, my confusion quickly morphing into irritation. The imposing white building looming before us was unmistakably Silverblood Pack Hospitalits modern glass facade gleaming under the moonlight. This wasn’t what I’d planned.

Is everything alright, Miss? The driver shifted uncom

under

my stare..

I intended to stop at the hotel first. My fingers drummed against the s

mrest, the rhythm betraying my agitation.

He swallowed visibly. My apologies, Miss Ravencroft. Alpha Alaric ordered me to bring you directly to the hospital. He said there’s no need for you to stay long. His eyes darted nervously to the building then back to me. He instructed me to return you to Moonshade Pack immediately after you leave the hospital.

I exhaled slowly. My brother’s protective instincts were both touching and frustrating. But I understood his concernif our positions were reversed, I wouldn’t let him stay in Silverblood territory either, not after everything that had happened.

Fine.I grabbed my purse from the seat beside me.

I pulled out my phone, checking the time: 10:35PM. Late enough that hospital staff would be minimal, but not so late that visiting would raise eyebrows. Taking a deep breath, I prepared to face the place I’d once called home.

I’ll call you when I’m ready to leave,I told the driver as I stepped out of the car.

The moment my feet touched Silverblood territory, my body reacted. The Alpha scent markers along the boundary sent my pulse racing, a primal response ! couldn’t control. Tristan’s essence was embedded in the very soildominant, powerful, warning away intruders.

And that’s what I was now. An intruder.

Pack members passing by shot curious glances my way, some with open hostility. News traveled fast in werewolf communities; some already recognized me from the social media storm. I pulled my coat tighter around my body, as if the fabric could shield me from their judgment.

Every sound seemed magnifiedthe distant howl of a wolf on patrol, the hum of hospital machinery, the whispers that followed in my wake. My senses, already heightened by anxiety, stretched to their limits as Astrid stirred restlessly within me.

We should get him something, she suggested unexpectedly.

I paused, considering. Arriving emptyhanded felt wrong, despite everything. A small flower shop operated on the hospital groundsI remembered it from my time here.

The shop was nearly empty at this early hour, just a tiredlooking attendant arranging displays. I browsed the selection, choosing a modest arrangement of blue hydrangeas for Fenris and a simple bouquet of white lilies for Dr. Ryan, should I manage to see him.

Look who’s crawled back.

The voice sliced through the quiet store like a blade, I didn’t need to turn to know who it belonged toVanessa, one of Tristan’s trusted circle and Selene’s devoted friend. Her nails tapped against her phone screen as she approached, her lips curved in a predatory smile.

The Wolfbane family’s discarded toy,she continued, circling me like a shark. Bold of you to show your face here.

I kept my expression neutral, focusing on the flowers. “I’m just here to see Fenris. He’s III.

Does Alpha Tristan know you’re back? She leaned closer, her perfume overwhelming. Or did you sneak in, planning some little scheme?

I spoke with Alpha Tristan.I selected another stem, adding it to my bouquet with deliberate care. He knows I’m coming.

Vanessa’s eyes narrowed, her fingers already typing rapidly on her phone. How interesting. I’m sure Selene would love to know you’re here, She’s our Lona now, you know. Her smile sharpened. You should understand you’re not welcome anymore.

Astrid growled within me, urging me to put this woman in her place. I swallowed the impulse, aware that creating a scene would only complicate things.

Would you like these wrapped, ladies? The shopkeeper interjected nervously, eyeing the growing tension.

Yes, please.I turned away from Vanessa, but not before noticing a display of rare silverblue moonlight orchids in the corner.

My heart twisted at the sight. I’d once spent weeks tracking down those same flowers for Tristan, after learning from Isolde they were his favorite. The rare blooms glowed faintly under moonlighta perfect gift for my new husband, I’d thought naively.

The memory surfaced with painful clarityTristan’s face contorting with disgust

proudly presented the carefully selected arrangement.

You really think I want something touched by your hands? He’d tossed the expensive flowers into the trash without a second glance. Anything you touch loses its value, Lysandra.
