Chapter 31
Lysandra’s Po
Tested awake, swest clinging to my skin like a rond 1syri. The same nightmare again Trictaw eyes widening with comignition se foe booked at raw, dle pieces clicking into place behind the steel blue irises. The memory of the airport hawerdd me for days now, replaying in my mind like a fourrst movie. stuck on loop.
Sitting up, I pushed damp hair from my forehead and checked the time, 5:47 AM. Of course. Sleep had become my enemy since our return from the Monk Ring Council.
Astrid stirred within me, her presence a comforting weight. He didn’t suspect anything, she reassured me. Stop tarhurine gehrself
You don’t know that, I whispered into the darkness, hugging my knees to my chest.
For two days, I’d braced myself for the inevitable–a furious Tristan storming Moonshade territory, demanding answers about the twins. But nothing had happened. No calls, no unexpected visits, no legal threats. The silence was almost worse than confrontation. At least with confrontation, I’d know where we stood.
Later that morning, 1 stood before my vanity mirror, absently running a brush through my hair. My reflection stared back with tired eyes that had seen tow much, worried too much.
“Mommy? You’ve been brushing the same spot for ages.”
I blinked, suddenly aware of Orion and Lyra sitting cross–legged on my bed, watching me with those perceptive eyes that missed nothing. How long had 1 been lost in thought?
Setting down the brush, I forced a smile. “Sorry, my moonbeams. Just thinking.”
Lyra tilted her head, her green eyes–my eyes–studying me with that eerie childhood intuition. “What are you thinking about?
“Nothing important.” I moved to sit between them on the bed, the mattress dipping beneath my weight. “How are you two feeling today?”
Orion’s little face remained serious, his jaw set in that stubborn way that was pure Tristan. “Mom, I didn’t like that Alpha.”
My heart skipped. “What Alpha, sweetie?”
His lips pressed into a thin line. “The one at the airport. He talked to Lyra like she was nothing. Kieran would never talk to her like that.”
Lyra shook her head, her chestnut curls bouncing. “He wasn’t mean to me, Orion’s just being dramatic. I thought he was handsome.”
My pulse quickened, but I kept my expression neutral. “Tell me exactly what happened at the airport. Everything.”
Orion squared his shoulders, chin jutting forward. “I protected Lyra. That Alpha ordered her around, so I stood up to him.”
“I just asked if we could sit by him,” Lyra interjected, rolling her eyes. “He said it was a public area and I could sit wherever I wanted. His eyes looked like stars.”
“He was rude,” Orion insisted, a flash of anger darkening his features. ‘Like he owned the whole airport. I told him he couldn’t talk to Lyra that way.”
My stomach twisted into knots as I pictured the scene–my son challenging Tristan, neither aware of the blood they shared.
“Then he asked where we were from,” Lyra continued, twirling a strand of hair around her finger. ‘I think he might be one of those super powerful Alphas from your stories.”
“What did you tell him?” I asked, struggling to keep the urgency from my voice.
‘I told him we’re from Moonshade Pack,” Lyra replied with innocent pride. “He looked really surprised.”
My breath caught. Thank god that’s all they’d shared. The very idea that Tristan might connect the dots… might realize these were his children…

Chapter 31
You did good protecting your sister, I told Orion, running my fingers through his dark hair. Then to tera “Mut sometiò, we don’t tell strampoN TANGAN ourselves, okay?
Before either could respond, a soft knock Interrupted us. Martha, one of our housekeepers, stond at the doorway.
“Miss Lysandra, Alpha Alaric is waiting for you in the living room.”
Thank you, Martha. Tell him 111 be right there.” I kissed each twin on the forehead. You two stay here and play for a bit. F’ll be back vidn
The living room buzzed with an unusual energy. My brother Alaric stood by the fireplace, dressed in his formal Alpha attire. Kieran leaned against the wall nearby, his expression unreadable. Most surprising were my parents–both seated on the sofa, looking unusually serious.
You called for me?” I asked Alaric, crossing the room.
He nodded, his face solemn. I did, but Dad wanted to speak with you.”
My father patted the space beside him. “Sit, Lyss.”
I complied, anxiety twisting in my stomach. “Dad?”
My father’s weathered face softened as he looked at me. “I want you to take over my pack business.
“Pack business?” I repeated, confused.
“Yes, the pack business. I want you to join Ravencroft Enterprises.”
1 blinked, caught off guard. “But Dad, you know my aspirations. That’s not the career path I wanted. I’ve been working toward the medical field.*
“We know that,” he replied, his voice gentle but firm. “But your brother is overwhelmed. If you could shoulder some of his responsibilities, it would help tremendously.”
I glanced at Alaric, who gave a slight nod.
My mother reached across, squeezing my hand. “Your father is right, Lyss.”
Dropping my gaze to my lap, I exhaled slowly. “May I ask why this
sudden decision, Dad?”
He placed his hand on my head. “As your father, I need to make certain decisions. I believe in your potential. You won’t disappoint me.”
After a moment’s hesitation, I nodded. “Alright, Dad.
As
you wish.
“Kieran will take you to the company tomorrow,” Alaric added. “He’ll help prepare you for what’s ahead.”
Walking back toward my room, I processed what had just happened. My parents had reached retirement age and wanted to travel the world. Alaric would continue training the pack warriors, while I would handle the business side of things. It made sense, even if it wasn’t what I’d imagined for myself.
‘So, are you ready to join Ravencroft Enterprises, Miss Ravencroft?”
