Rejected Luna Returns with Secret Twins (Lysandra) novel Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Tristan’s POV

I pressed my forehead against the cool glass of the car window, watching the blur of trees and buildings as we sped toward the airport. My coffee had gone cold, but I drank it anyway, barely tasting the bitter liquid. Right now, I needed caffeine more than flavor.

My phone died with a pathetic beepbattery drained after a night of pointless calls that went straight to voicemail. Not that it mattered. There was nothing left to say.

Varian sat across from me, scrolling through his own device, occasionally glancing my way with poorly disguised concern. The tension in the car was suffocatingmy Alpha presence filling the confined space, making the driver shift uncomfortably and my security detail breathe in shallow, measured intervals.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get her out of my head. Lysandra. The way she’d looked at me last nightnot with fear, but with cold indifference. As if I were a stranger. After I’d killed those Rogues for her. After I’d wrapped her wrist with my own fucking shirt.

My wolf paced restlessly inside me, his agitation bleeding into my mood.

We should stay, he growled. Find her.

Shut up,I muttered under my breath.

Varian looked up from his phone. Sir?

Nothing.

I didn’t want to leave. The pull to stayto hunt down Lysandra and finish our conversationclawed at my insides. But I had no choice. Reports of trouble within Silverblood territory demanded my presence. As Alpha, my pack came first, regardless of personal desires.

Varian’s phone rang, cutting through my thoughts. He answered with a brisk, Beta Varian speaking, device toward me.

Chen extended the

It’s for you. Miss Selene.

Her name sent a wave of irritation through me. I stared at the phone but made no move to take it.

Tell her I’m leaving.

Varian sighed, then put the call on speaker. Miss Selene, Alpha is returning to Silverblood Pack.

But he didn’t tell me.Her voice sounded small through the speaker, a hint of petulance in her tone.

Varian looked at me expectantly. When I remained silent, he cleared his throat.

Alpha doesn’t need to inform anyone of his movements.

*II didn’t mean it like that, Beta Varian, she backpedaled. Could you please put him on? I need to speak with him. It’s important.

My apologies. He’s occupied at the moment. We’re en route to the airport. Alpha will contact you after we reach Silverblood Pack.

After a moment of loaded silence, the call disconnected abruptly.

She’s upset, Varian observed, tucking the phone away.

I don’t care. The words came out harsher than intended, but they were true. Despite everything Selene had done for mesaving my life as a child, bearing the scar that proved her loyaltyI couldn’t bring myself to feel anything for her beyond obligation.

How fucked up was that? The woman who’d risked her life for me couldn’t touch my heart, yet a woman who’d abandoned me five years ago still haunted my every thought.

My fists clenched as images from last night flashed through my mind. Those Rogues with their filthy hands on Lysandra. The way she’d trembled slightly despite her brave face. The relief I’d felt when my fist connected with the first one’s jaw.

And then Kieran showing up, whisking her away in his car. The memory made my vision bleed red at the edges.

What’s on your mind?Varian asked, pulling me from the violent fantasy of tearing the Beta limb from limb. You look

troubled.

I opened my eyes, not bothering to mask the fury there. When we reach the pack, I need you to do something.

Of course, Alpha.

Beta Kieran.Just saying his name made my jaw clench.

You want me to find out something about him?

I shook my head. Everything. I want to know everything.

You’ll have the information on your desk tomorrow.

Varian hesitated, then added quietly, Tristanit appears she’s moved on with her life.

I met his gaze steadily. Do I look like I give a fuck?

***

The airport terminal bustled with travelers. I strode through the crowd, Varian and two security guards flanking me. People parted instinctively, sensing the Alpha presence radiating from me.

Whispers and hungry stares followed in my wake, the scent of female arousal unmistakable even among the airport’s

chaos.

Isn’t that Alpha Tristan?

Fuck me, look at those shoulders. I’d let him do anything to me. Bet he’s an animal in bed.

God, he’s gorgeous.

Chapter 25

I’d submit to him in a heartbeat. I’d join Silverblood Pack just to get a chance at warming his bed.
