Upon seeing her hesitate, Declan’s amused voice rang above her head. “Are you actually shy? If you are, just admit it. I will not make fun of you.”
Phoebe frowned and met Declan’s teasing gaze, a mix of embarrassment and annoyance rising in her heart. “Not at all.
As she spoke, she yanked his belt off in one swift motion and tossed it onto the floor. Then, without hesitation, she crouched down and swiftly pulled his pants off.
“You do not need to take off your underwear, do you?” Phoebe asked.
Declan smirked. “If you are willing, I would not mind.”
Phoebe let out a cold laugh. “I have no interest in looking.”
Since Declan had not fully recovered from his injuries, he could not take a shower and could only wipe down his body instead.
Phoebe seemed much calmer as she wiped him down.
After finishing, she wrung out the towel and tossed it onto Declan’s lap. “You can handle the rest yourself. I will wait outside. Call me when you are done.”
Declan did not make things difficult for her. He knew that if he pushed her too far, she might actually walk away for good with the way she was now.
By the time Phoebe finished helping Declan, she was drenched in sweat.
The sticky feeling made her uncomfortable, so she grabbed some clothes and went to take a shower. When she came out, Declan was on the phone.
Phoebe dried her hair with a towel, waiting for him to finish his call before using the hairdryer.
By the time she was done, it was already past ten at night. She went to the closet, took out two blankets, and prepared to sleep on the floor.
Declan saw what she was doing, and a trace of coldness flashed in his eyes. He gritted his teeth. “Phoebe, put the blankets back and sleep on the bed.”
Phoebe frowned at him. “Mr. Richardson, we are getting divorced. It is not appropriate for us to share a bed.”
“Do you think I am in any condition to do anything to you?” Declan said.
Phoebe pressed her lips together. “That is not what I meant.”
“Then what do you
mean? Do not worry. I have no interest in you,” Declan said.
Phoebe replied, “It has nothing to do with you. I am just used to sleeping alone. If someone else is beside me, I cannot sleep.”
Declan stared at her coldly. “Last time at the resort, you slept just fine.”
A flicker of displeasure flashed through Phoebe’s eyes. “That was forced, Mr. Richardson. Agreeing to stay under the same roof with you is already my limit. If you push for more, I will sleep in the room next door.”
Ignoring the chill in Declan’s gaze, she laid out her blankets on the floor and turned off the lights, going straight to sleep.
A night passed.

The next morning, when Phoebe woke up, Declan was already awake, sitting on the bed with a dark expression. He did not say a word when he saw her, clearly still upset about last night.
She paid him no mind, dressed him, and pushed him into the bathroom to freshen up.
By the time she finished taking care of him, it was almost time for her to leave for work.
After quickly washing up, she said, “I will order breakfast for you. The maid should arrive around noon to cook lunch.”
Declan’s face remained cold, and he nodded expressionlessly.
Phoebe walked to the entryway, changing her shoes as she said, “I am heading to work. Call me if you need anything.”
As soon as she stepped out of the villa, she ran into Patrick, who stood beside a man wearing a caregiver’s uniform.
Seeing her, Patrick smiled. “Ms. Greene, heading to work?”
“Yes. Is this the caregiver you found for Mr. Richardson?” Phoebe asked.
Patrick nodded. “Yes, this is the same caregiver who looked after Mr. Richardson in the hospital. You can call him Lech. He had to take the day off yesterday due to personal matters, so I brought him over today.
“Do not worry. He will come after you leave for work and leave before you return. He will not interfere with you.”
After greeting Lech, Phoebe turned to Patrick and asked, “Will the caregiver help Mr. Richardson with his baths?”
She did not want to go through last night’s awkward situation again.
“That service is available, but Mr. Richardson does not like being assisted when bathing. When he was in the hospital, he always did it himself. Lech only helped fill the bathtub,” Patrick explained.
