Chapter 93
Declan was silent for a few seconds before saying. “I understand. You should go home now?
Jennifer’s eyes filled with disbelief. She never thought he would not stand up for her.
“Alright then, I will come visit you another day. Deck, do not blame Pheebs. It was my fault for being clumsy and making her so angry. I do not blame her, Jennifer said, forcing herself not to cry.
Jennifer saw that Declan remained calm, his deep eyes revealing no emotion. Feeling wronged, she left quietly.
Declan searched around the living room for a while before finally finding the first–aid kit.
He wheeled himself back to the bedroom. Just as he arrived, Phoebe walked out of the bathroom, having just rinsed her arm with cold water. When she saw the first–aid kit in Declan’s hand, a flicker of surprise crossed her eyes. Shouldn’t he be busy comforting Jennifer right now?‘ she wondered.
“Come here. I will apply the medicine for you,” Declan said.
Meeting Declan’s calm gaze, Phoebe stood still for a moment before walking up to him. “Give me the first–aid kit. I will do it myself.”
Declan’s expression turned colder. “It will be difficult for you to apply it properly. I will help.”
“Forget it. It will heal in a few days anyway,” Phoebe replied.
Upon seeing her turn to leave, a wave of irritation surged through Declan. He said coldly. “Stop right there?
He handed her the first–aid kit, his whole demeanor exuding a chill, making it clear that he was angry.
Phoebe took the kit without even looking at him and walked straight out of the bedroom.
Declan wheeled himself out and saw Phoebe sitting on the couch, applying medicine to her arm.
When he noticed the bright red marks on her skin, his eyes darkened. “Why did you slap Jennifer four times today?
Phoebe raised an eyebrow and looked at him with a sneer. “Do you feel bad for her? If you do, then stop meeting her here.
Jong as I do not have to see it, you two can do whatever you want.”
Declan frowned, his voice turning colder. “Even if she did it on purpose, two slaps would have been enough.
Phoebe paused for a moment, then looked up at him. “The other two were payback for what she did to my horse at the stables the other day. I always repay my debts. If you really feel bad for her, you can take the punishment for her next time.”
“What about me? I wronged you at the stables that day too. How do you plan to get back at me?” Declan asked.
Phoebe lowered her gaze, finished applying the medicine, and tossed the cotton swab into the trash before looking up at him. “If you want, you can slap yourself twice.
“But falsely accusing me did not actually harm me, so I do not need to get revenge over a few words.”
After saying that, she packed up the first–aid kit and was about to leave.
Declan grabbed her wrist, his voice slightly heavy. “Phoebe, you agreed to stay at the villa and take care of me. Is it not because you still have feelings for me?”
Phoebe had no idea how he came to that conclusion. She looked at him in confusion and frowned. “You are overthinking it. You got into an accident on your way to notarize the divorce agreement. I have an obligation to take care of you.”

Besides, Declan’s accident was partly because of her conflict with Scorpion. In a way, he got dragged into it because of her.
Declan stared into her eyes, trying to find any sign that she was lying.
Phoebe just looked back at him calmly. Her clear eyes held no emotion whatsoever.
For some reason, a wave of disappointment rose in his heart.
He let go of her hand and said stubbornly. “That is for the best. I will never like you. I hope you remember your place?
