Phoebe looked at him with sarcasm. “I was just giving her a little lesson.”

As Phoebe finished speaking and turned to leave, Declan grabbed her hand and coldly said, “Jennie’s health is fragile. If you do anything to harm her, Mr. Greene and Mrs. Greene will not let you off the hook.”

“I haven’t done anything to her yet, and you’re already starting to act like her knight in shining armor?” Phoebe replied.

Declan furrowed his brow. “Phoebe, do you have to twist my words like this?”

He was clearly worried about what Liam and Olivia might do, but in her eyes, it became a matter of protecting Jennifer.

Phoebe smiled. “You know very well whether I’m twisting your words or whether it’s the truth”

She pulled her hand from his grip and turned away to leave.

Declan stared coldly at Phoebe’s retreating figure, his mind filled with anger.

On her way back, Phoebe ran into Mason.

When Mason saw Phoebe, he finally let out a sigh of relief. “Phoebe, Mr. Richardson didn’t do anything to you, did he?”

Earlier, Mason had seen Phoebe being pulled away by Declan. He hadn’t planned to intervene, as Phoebe had told him in the morning not to interfere in her personal matters.

But his worry had outweighed his reservations, and he had gotten up to follow her.

Seeing the clear concern in Mason’s eyes, Phoebe felt a little touched.

However, for Mason’s career and safety, she looked at him indifferently. “Mason, thank you for your concern, but this is between us, and it would be better if you didn’t ask about it in the future.”

Mason’s face froze. After a long pause, he finally spoke. “Phoebe, there’s actually something else I need to tell you.”

“What is it?” Phoebe asked.

“Declan’s secretary came to me before, asking to buy your villa. He probably thought it was mine,” Mason said.

Phoebe furrowed her brow, remembering that she had purposely changed the villa’s ownership to someone else’s name in order to avoid suspicion.

But for Declan to have tracked it down under Mason’s name struck her as strange.

What neither of them knew was that when Patrick had someone investigate the villa, the wrong house number had been entered, which was why the villa was registered under Mason’s name.

“I understand. Thank you for telling me,” Phoebe said.

Phoebe returned to her room, took a shower, and went straight to bed.

She decided she would leave first thing in the morning. Everything about this resort had been troublesome, and it seemed better to just sleep at home.

In the middle of the night, Phoebe, half asleep, heard the door card swipe against the sensor with a soft beep, instantly waking her up.

She lay still in bed, waiting for her eyes to adjust to the darkness. Gradually, she saw a figure moving toward the side of the

As the shadow reached the bedside, Phoebe immediately rolled over and lunged at him.

The person didn’t expect Phoebe to be awake and instinctively stepped aside as Phoebe lunged toward him.

Phoebe narrowed her eyes, realizing it was someone trained in combat. She was about to strike again when the light switch beside the bed was suddenly turned on.

Phoebe clearly saw the person standing slightly ahead of her, and a flash of anger crossed her eyes. “Declan, why did you sneak into my room in the middle of the night?”

“This hotel is ridiculous for handing out room cards so carelessly. I will definitely file a complaint first thing tomorrow morning, Phoebe thought.

Declan glanced at her coldly. “Phoebe, don’t you think you should explain why your skills are so impressive?”

If it hadn’t been for his quick reflexes, he would likely have had a bruise on his face by now.

Phoebe glared at him. “You’re hiding plenty of things from me too. Why should I explain anything to you?”

“Even if you don’t explain, I will investigate on my own,” Declan said.

“Go ahead, then.” Phoebe smiled and wondered, ‘If you can find anything, you’ll have proved your abilities.
