Regretful CEO Ex-Wife Don't Leave Me novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Her mind screamed, ‘He doesn’t even like Phoebe, but why did he do this?

Seeing Jennifer’s devastated expression, Olivia felt her heart ached. She immediately reached out to steady Jennifer’s shaky frame and comforted, Jennie, don’t be upset. Declan must have only said that to avoid further embarrassment for our family.

Jennifer clung to that hope like a drowning person grabbing onto a lifeline. She nodded repeatedly, as if convincing herself. Yeah, you’re right, Mom. Deck can’t like Pheebs. We’re the ones meant to be together.

George and Roselyn exchanged glances, both seeing the same shock mirrored in each other’s eyes.

They had always assumed Declan and Phoebe’s relationship was strained at best. With Jennifer back, they had been certain a divorce was inevitable. That was why they’d never hesitated to suppress and scheme against Phoebe. But if Declan actually cared about Pheobe, they might need to rethink their approach.

George soon regained his composure and turned to Declan with a forced smile. Declan, you’re taking this too seriously. We only thought there might be some misunderstanding, so we wanted Phoebe to clear things up with the guests. We didn’t want them getting the wrong idea about her.

Declan’s gaze was icy, his words slow and deliberate. Misunderstanding? I was at that bar that night. She and I had an argument, and she had such interactions with that guy just to piss me off. Do we need to explain the details to all of you

now?

If you guys are so interested in our private life, why don’t we just install a surveillance system in my house? That way, you all

can watch us 24/7.

His sharp gaze swept across the room, and anyone who met his eyes instantly looked away, too afraid to challenge him.

No one dared to say another word now. Declan was powerful enough, and if he wanted to, he could ruin any of their families overnight. They’d be idiots to keep poking at this because behind closed doors, many of them had done far worse just without getting exposed.

A heavy silence filled the room. No one even dared to breathe too loudly for fear of drawing Declan’s attention.

Now that the initial shock had passed, Phoebe snapped back to reality. She yanked her hand free from Declan’s grip and strode toward the exit without looking back. Declan frowned before quickly following her.

Jennifer, still reluctant to accept the reality, bit her lip hard and ran after them.

Just as Declan reached the door, Jennifer stepped in front of him and blocked his way. Tears streamed down her face as she looked up at him, her voice trembling. Deck, tell me, have you fallen for Pheebs?

A hit of displeasure flashed in Declan’s eyes. He replied in a cold tone, Jennie, whatever happens between Phoebe and me is none of your business.

How can you say that, Deck?Jennifer shouted.

Jennifer’s composure finally cracked. Tears kept rolling down her cheeks, and she yelled with all her strength, We were meant for each other. She only married you because you were injured. She took advantage of your accident. You never announced your marriage these past three years because you were waiting for me, weren’t you?

Declan was silent for a few seconds before he finally looked her in the eye, his expression unreadable. At first, yeah, I was waiting. But over time, I stopped. Jennie, you’ll meet someone who deserves you.

Jennifer’s hands clenched into fists as she shook her head violently. No, you’re the one. I know you still love me, Deck. I KNOW you do. I won’t give up.

Declan’s brows furrowed deeply. Jennie, you’re still young. Don’t waste your time-

I’m not wasting my time,” Jennifer cut him off sharply, her voice unwavering. I won’t love anyone else but you.

Her determination only made Declan’s gaze turn even colder. Without another word, he stepped around her and walked

away.

When Declan arrived back at the villa, he found Phoebe sitting on the couch in the living room. His expression immediately turned grim, and he asked, Why didn’t you wait for me?

Phoebe didn’t answer. Instead, she met his gaze, her face eerily calm. Declan, can we talk?

Declan strode over and sat down across from her. His eyes were like frozen steel, and he replied, Okay, go ahead.
