Chapter 33
Phoebe’s expression was blank as she replied, “Say what you want.”

“Hey, you.” Olivia snapped, pointing at her. “It’s your stubbornness that drives me nuts. That’s why I hate you so much, you
know?”
“Got something else to add?” Phoebe replied, clearly fed up.
Olivia’s barely contained anger flared up, and she pointed a finger at Pheobe and shouted, “You bitch, is that really how you
talk to me?”
Seeing Olivia all fired up, Phoebe asked coolly, “So what attitude do you want?”
Olivia frowned and said with obvious disgust, “Forget it, I’m not wasting time on this. Jennie’s back, so when are you planning to divorce Declan?”
“Does Jennifer coming back have anything to do with whether Declan and I stay together?” Phoebe shot back.
Olivia snorted, “Don’t play dumb. You know Declan and Jennie have feelings for each other. Don’t make a fool of yourself by staying in the middle of them.”
Phoebe’s face remained impassive, and she sneered, “Declan and I are married. I’m not the one caught in the middle, and I’m not making a fool of myself.”
Olivia’s face turned ashen with fury, and she said with clenched teeth, “Can’t you find another man in the world? You really wanna wrest him away from Jennie?”
A cold smile crept over Phoebe’s lips as she replied word by word, “Let me make this crystal clear. It’s Jennifer now trying to snatch Declan from me.
“Instead of forcing me to file for divorce, you might as well let her try harder. If she can get Declan to ask for a divorce, I’ll sign off immediately, I promise.”
“Alright. Phoebe, remember what you said,” Olivia barked.
Without another word, Phoebe walked away. When she returned to the hall, George was busy giving his speech. Phoebe wasn’t in the mood for that. She found a quiet corner, pulled out her phone, and started playing a game. Suddenly, someone sat down next to her.
She glanced over and saw Cora. Phoebe coolly averted her eyes and went back to her game.
Cora took a peek at her phone screen and sneered, “Geeze, after all these years, you’re still hooked on that game? Aren’t you tired of it?”
“Not even close,” Phoebe replied flatly.
Cora stole a look at Pheobe’s pretty profile and thought, ‘Phoebe’s way better than Jennifer. The Greene family must be blind, and so is Declan.
Recalling what she’d just seen in the garden, Cora took a sigh, her eyes flashing with anger. She bit her tongue for a moment before blurting out, “I just saw Declan and Jennifer cuddled up in the garden. That scene really made me sick.”
Phoebe didn’t even pause her game and replied evenly, “They were always meant to be a pair. You’re bound to see more of that, so you better get used to it.”
“I can’t get used to it,” Cora snapped. “Declan’s fine on his own. How can he not see through women’s tricks? Jennifer’s such a hypocrite.”

Just then, Phoebe wrapped up a round, pocketed her phone, and looked at Cora. “Different strokes for different folks. When you’re into someone, you only see the good in them.”
Seeing Pheobe’s calm face, Cora frowned again. “The problem is you’re still Declan’s wife. How are you just gonna watch him cheat on you?”
Phoebe replied with a shrug, “What else can I do? Our marriage wasn’t known by many, so to everyone else, it looks perfectly normal.”
After a beat, Cora patted Pheobe’s shoulder and sighed, “You’ve had it rough. I promise I’ll treat you better from now on.”
“Not later. You can start by getting me some cakes right now. Go ahead,” said Pheobe with a wink.
Cora couldn’t help but smile. “Alright, I’m on it.”
Not long after Cora left, George came down from the stage and handed things over to Emily.
