Chapter 25
Phoebe frowned at him, irritation creeping into her voice. “Declan, can you stop pestering me? I admit I was wrong for marrying you without your consent back then.

“But I healed your leg, and for the past three years, I’ve been loyal to our marriage. Now, I just want to move on and start anew. Is that really too much to ask?”

Declan’s eyes widened. He was silent for a few seconds before gritting his teeth to reply, “I’ve already made it clear, divorce is out of the question.”
He stared at her and continued, “I looked into it. You weren’t with Mason these days. So where the hell were you? And how did you get that 15 million dollars? If you don’t want me to dig further, come back with me right now.”
Phoebe’s hand clenched involuntarily, hesitation flashing through her eyes. But in the next moment, she shook off his grip and got into the car without another word.
The ride back was filled with heavy silence. Phoebe was beyond frustrated. She had no idea what had gotten into Declan. She complained internally, ‘Shouldn’t he be rushing to sign the damn divorce papers and be done with me? Dragging this out would only make both our lives miserable.‘
Back at the villa, Pheobe headed straight for the stairs. Just as she reached the first step, Declan’s voice came from behind. “Your grandfather’s birthday is in two days. I recently bought a pair of antique vases. I was thinking of giving them as a gift. What do you say?”
Phoebe stopped and turned around, her expression indifferent. “Do whatever you want. You don’t need my opinion on this.”
Declan frowned and shot back, “It’s YOUR grandpa’s birthday. You-”
“Yeah, and so what?” Phoebe put on a mocking smirk and added, “Except for our shared bloodline, there’s nothing more.”
The Greenes had never once treated her as one of their own. She had no interest in humiliating herself and trying to earn their approval.
Declan studied her for a moment before speaking again, “Regardless, we’ll go together that day.”
“Got it.” Phoebe threw out the words without emotion and headed upstairs.
Declan watched her figure, his expression unreadable, his eyes dark with thoughts he didn’t voice.
Later that evening, just as Phoebe was about to order takeout, she received a call from Cora.
Cora said, “Pheebs, I forgot to tell you that Declan wants to meet you.”
Phoebe’s brows lifted slightly in surprise before she asked with a frown, “It’s about Miracle Youth, isn’t it?”
“Yeah. Richardson Group has been trying to acquire Miracle Youth for a month now. They’ve approached me multiple times, but I never agreed. Now that they know you’re back, they probably want to negotiate with you directly.”
Cora paused before adding, “Honestly, their offer is solid. If you hadn’t returned, those greedy old bastards would’ve sold the company by now and started counting their cash.”
Phoebe didn’t respond right away. After a couple of seconds, Cora continued, “If you don’t want to deal with Declan, I ca
turn them down.”
Phoebe exhaled slowly and said in a low voice, “No, send me the time and place. Before I came back to Miracle Youth, I
knew I’d have to face him sooner or later.”

“Alright. I’ll coordinate with Richardson Group and set up the meeting.”
“Okay.”
After hanging up, Phoebe was about to go back to browsing takeout options when a knock sounded at the door.

Declan’s deep voice carried through. “The housekeeper made dinner. I have something to take care of tonight, so I won’t eat at home.”
Phoebe didn’t respond. A few minutes later, she heard the sound of an engine starting. She walked to the window just in time to see the taillights of Declan’s car disappearing down the road.
Five minutes later, she went downstairs. To her surprise, the table was set with all her favorite dishes. Her eyes flickered with a trace of surprise, but she didn’t dwell on it. After finishing her meal, she cleaned up and went back to her room.
