Chapter 15: Confrontations and Revelations
(Sophia’s POV)
I was stunned by Elena’s sarcastic remark, my face turning ugly. What did that she wolf mean by mocking me? The audacity of her words burned in my chest like silver poison.
When I heard movement in the corridor, I quickly put Marcus’s phone back in its original position and stepped aside. My heart raced as I tried to compose myself.
Marcus and Amber Stone entered the Alpha’s Command Chamber, Marcus frowned slightly upon seeing me
“Have you been discharged from the hospital?” he asked, his golden eyes scanning my face with concern:
I confirmed I was fine, forcing a weak smile. “I only need a few days of rest.”
I quickly changed the subject, not wanting him to dwell on my injuries. “We should have lunch together. Oliver
hasn’t seen you for a while!”
Without checking his call records, Marcus simply glanced at the pack business messages on his desk
“Alright.”
His easy agreement filled me with satisfaction. At least he still cared about Oliver and me
(Elena’s POV)
I met Nathan Sterling at the Northern Territory Restaurant, apologizing as I approached his table. “Sorry for being late.”
Nathan looked up from his phone with his usual carefree smile. “A few minutes don’t matter.”
He sent me the recovered surveillance footage through a secure message. “Fortunately, the person who
deleted it wasn’t professional. Otherwise it would have taken much longer to restore.”
I thanked him, my voice heavy with gratitude. “lowe you so much. Let me compensate you for your coat that
Marcus threw away.
Nathan refused with a wave of his hand. “It’s just a piece of clothing. I’m glad to help fulfill Professor Theodore Ashworth’s request.”
When I mentioned my upcoming job transfer to Riverstone Medical Center and plans to visit the professor, Nathan looked puzzled. “Transfer? Why are you leaving the institute?”
Before I could answer, a familiar voice interrupted our conversation,
“Uncle Marcus!” Oliver’s excited voice rang through the restaurant as he ran ahead.
My expression stiffened as I turned to see Sophia and Marcus walking leisurely into the same restaurant. Sophia wore a custom purple slip dress with high heels and exquisite makeup.
They walked together like a perfect couple. Despite having anticipated this scene, my heart still ached like a physical wound.
I reflected bitterly that in six years, I had never been able to stand openly beside Marcus as his true Luna. Yet Sophia had achieved this in just half a year.
Chapter 15 Confrontation.
Perhaps I really had delayed Marcus all these years.
(Sophia’s POV)
Marcus’s gaze fell on the two people by the window. He slowed his pace with a slight frown, his golden eyes darkening.
I noticed his reaction and followed his gaze. A barely detectable coldness flashed in my eyes before I took
Marcus’s arm.
“Are Elena and Nathan on a date?” I asked sweetly. “Should we go say hello?”
When Elena’s eyes met Marcus’s, he looked away indifferently as if she were a stranger. “We should eat first.”
I smiled and followed, turning back to give Elena a challenging and triumphant look. The satisfaction of seeing her pain was intoxicating
(Elena’s POV)
Nathan observed the situation carefully, his usual playful demeanor turning serious. “What’s your relationship
with Marcus?
As an outsider sensing the subtle dynamics, he had long wanted to ask this question. The tension in the air
was palpable.
“I have no relationship with him,” I replied, my voice carefully neutral
Seeing my reluctance to elaborate, Nathan didn’t press further. We finished our meal in relative silence.
As we parted outside the restaurant, I asked for another favor. “I promise to treat you to dinner in return.”
He readily agreed with a warm smile. “Anything for Professor Ashworth’s favorite student.”
After Nathan left, I received a text from Marcus telling me to come to the parking garage. I stared at the message hesitantly without replying.
Then my phone rang. The caller ID still showing “Alpha Marcus‘ made me momentarily dazed.
I remembered how Marcus never used to contact me actively Occasionally he use our mate bond to call me.
Yet now he was both texting and calling.
I answered with a distant tone. “Alpha, what do you want?”
Over the sound of a lighter, he seemed to be smoking. His voice was low and lazy. “Didn’t you see my
message about coming to the parking garage?”
“You can find Sophia if you need something.” I said coldly.
Marcus mocked me through the phone. “Has finding Nathan as a backer made you bold?”
Confused by his meaning, I remained silent.
“It’s literal,” he continued. “My patience is limited.”
I hung up and went to the underground parking garage. There I saw Marcus’s handsome face- once beloved,
now resented.
“Why did you withdraw David’s defense lawyer?” I asked directly.
“I told you not to provoke Sophia,” he replied, exhaling smoke.
Chapter 15 Confrontation
Though I had expected this answer, it still hurt like silver cutting through my chest. “You’re breaking your promise because of Sophia.”
“I never actively provoked her. It was the other way around.”
Marcus told me to stay away from Nathan. The Blackwood family’s Luna can’t afford any scandals.
This cut me like silver shards to the heart. He cared about the Blackwood family’s reputation and Sophia’s
reputation.
While I was only required to follow his “rules.”
“What if it were your scandal?” I challenged.
