Skylar’s eyes sparkled with mockery. “Hurt you? Where’s the evidence?”

Jade screamed, her tone slicing. “You think saving Mr. Lambert gives me a free pass to do whatever you want?”

Jade sized Skylar up. “She’s a Lambert. You’d better watch out.”

Jade had only walked Freya to the ward door and hadn’t caught the full story.

He had picked up just bits of their argument from a distance.

She still had no idea that Skyla was the real Lambert heiress.

Freya played along, cradling her wrist dramatically. “Dr. Lane, please, check my hand. I think she broke it.”

Jade made a big show of examining it, gasping loudly. “Ms. Lambert, this looks serious!”

Heads turned as patients and their families gathered, drawn by the noise.

“Skylar, 1 get that you’re hot–headed,” Jade said, raising her voice for the crowd, “but you can’t just attack people. What are you, unhinged?”

Freya sniffled, tears on command. “Dr. Lane, it’s okay,” she said, her voice shaky. “Ms. Stone saved my dad–she’s our family’s hero. She can hit me, yell at me, I won’t complain,”

She paused, her tone sharpening “just hope Ms. Stone doesn’t let her personal grudges mess with her work. Please, don’t take it out on my dad.”

Jade jumped in, yelling “Ms. Lambert, let’s be real–Skylar’s no genius. She got lucky with Mr. Lambert’s surgery.”

She pointed at Skylar. “A fraud like her with no morals? She doesn’t belong in a hospital. I’m telling my dad to fire her!”

The crowd, patients and their families, tensed up. They hated doctors who abused their power, and their anger zeroed in on Skylar

One man glared at her, his voice thick with disgust. “You call yourself a doctor? How could you?”

Another piped up, nodding hard. “You’ve got a mean streak. People like you don’t deserve that white coat. Get out of this hospital!”

Skylar stood calm, | her face steady despite the flood of insults.

Freya, seeing her silence, thought she was scared. A smug glint flashed in her eyes.

“Ms. Stone, if you apologize nicely, I won’t hold it against you,” she said, her voice syrupy. “After all, you did sake my dad.”

She raised a brow, waiting for Skylar to beg

Skylar crooked a finger, motioning Freya closer.

Freya frowned but took two cautious steps forward.

In a flash, Skylar grabbed her chin. “Click.” Freya’s jaw popped out of place.

Her mouth dropped open, drool pooling as she booked ridiculous.

Before she could move, Skylar stepped in and, with the same quick motion, dislocated her jaw too.
